Out of a PFS question:
Do a halfling sling staff and a double sling count as sling in regard to the warsliner racial trait, that let´s you reload a sling as a free action that provokes AoO´s? Can you then reload a sling like a bow on iterative attacks?
There are two feats, ammo drop and juggle load that let you do the same but without provoking AoO`s.
And also, does weapon focus halfling sling staff count in both melee and ranged combat, along with the weapon enchantments (excluding those for melee or ranged only obviously)?
There seems to be urgent need for clarification, as the infamous table variation is very different on this.
Also, just as an idea, could it become a legal option for halfling zen archers to use a sling staff instead of a bow? That would just be the supreme fluff.

In two years, I have yet to have a GM question any of my 3 Halfling characters with the war slinger racial trait, including the specialized Halfling slinger/sling staff build that uses Rapid Shot. Actually, the only question I've run into regarding sling vs sling staff was "Does it require Point Blank Master (for "projectile" weapons) or can I use Close Quarters Thrower (for "thrown" weapons)?"
The weapon focus/weapon specialization is a trickier question. Since these feats apply to daggers/spears/javelins/light hammers/hand axes whether you throw them or use them in melee, I'd argue that they should apply to the melee side of the sling staff, also. Throwing a dagger and stabbing with it are very different actions and require different techniques, just like using a sling staff in melee vs. ranged.
As far as Zen Archers go, the archetype specifically says "bows" not "ranged weapons". Zen archers gain proficiency with longbows and shortbows, and they must use these weapons for all the class features.
Likewise, Manyshot and Stabbing Shot specifically call out longbow/shortbow, as does Gravity Bow.
Rapid Shot, Point Blank Shot, and Precise Shot apply to all ranged weapons.

The Zen Archer thing is not a rules question, just one of my ideas.
(One of the better probably) You can just discard it for the rules discussion.
Take a look at the discussion so far.

The design team sometimes marks an item as "Answered in FAQ" to clear it from the queue, either because it's not clear what question they're supposed to answer, or because the answer is already stated in the rules and people just aren't accepting it, or because there are multiple questions and they can't answer them all yet. Try making a fresh thread with a single, clear, concise question that really gets at the heart of the issue. You might have better luck.

Have I mentioned recently how much it annoys me when Paizo staff mark things as answered in the FAQ, even though they're not? It's bad customer service at the very least, or blatantly lying to your customers at worst.
And personally, I really would like an answer to this question. Do the halfling sling-staff and double sling count as slings for the purposes of traits/feats/whatever that apply only to slings, or don't they?
Some people seem to think that by RAW, they clearly don't. Others think it's ambiguous enough to go either way. Just about everyone seems to agree it's reasonable to allow as a house rule, but that doesn't help PFS players. And there are at least two threads where Paizo staff have refused to answer the question, despite claiming that it's answered in this thread.
So everyone please click the FAQ button on THIS POST, in the hopes that maybe we can get an actual answer this time.

Fromper, is the fact that your question is in a thread that has been "answered" going to keep it from being addressed? Should a new thread be started? I suggest this even though I thoroughly detest duplicate threads...
They have stated (in the thread Jiggy just linked to, I believe) that each post in a thread that gets flagged for FAQ is treated independently. Multiple threads on the same thing annoy me, too, which is why I just put the post in this thread. With any luck, it'll get their attention.

Heh. And into this breach goes redward.
This is the most FUBAR'd topic ever...

Okay, I started a new thread here asking only the one question. Hopefully that's simple and straightforward enough.
Before I pared that down, though, I did some research on sling feats and traits:
The following refer to slings only:
Ammo Drop (HoG)
Halfling Slinger (HoG)
Prone Slinger (UC)
Sling Flail (UC)
Warslinger (racial trait)
The following specify one or more types of sling weapons:
Juggle Load (HoG) - sling or double sling
Whip-slinger (HoG) - sling, double sling, halfling sling staff
The following specifically refer to all sling weapons:
Large Target (HoG)
Juggle Load, Whip-slinger and Large Target set an unfortunate precedent in terms of Feats applying specifically to the weapons mentioned by name. And since the sling staff is included in the CRB, none of these Feats or Traits pre-date its inclusion. People may want to prepare for an unpopular ruling on this.

Yeah, I too dislike the multiple threads, but I'm trying to follow the guidelines to make it as clear a question as possible.
Fromper's question...
Do the halfling sling-staff and double sling count as slings for the purposes of traits/feats/whatever that apply only to slings, or don't they?
...while better in terms of getting an all-encompassing answer, may actually muddy the waters due to the Feats I listed above. Which is why I want to distill it down to just Warslinger in the hopes of getting a concise answer.

Fair enough. I think we should all FAQ both mine and Redward's questions in the hopes that we end up with an answer on at least one of them.
As a fan of halflings, who already has the Halflings of Golarion book, I'd consider doing a sling-staff based PC at some point, just for flavor, which is why this interests me. But with the vagueness of these questions, I'm in no rush to make one. Besides, I already have too many characters in PFS - I'm actually running short of low level scenarios to play in, to get my level 2-4 PCs up to 5th level.

FAQ: http://paizo.com/paizo/faq/v5748nruor1gh#v5748eaic9qus
Halfling, Warslinger: What kind of slings does the this reload ability work with?
The warslinger ability says, "Halflings with this racial trait can reload a sling as a free action." It doesn't say "any type of sling" or "all slings," just "a sling." The ability only affects standard slings, not halfling sling staffs or any other kind of sling.
