Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

Welcome to the halls of the Sothis Lodge Pathfinders! I am Venture-Captain Norden Balentii, and you have been chosen to lead an expedition to the long-lost Pyramid of the Four Pharaohs of Ascension, believed to have been recently uncovered by the, elemental-driven khamsin storms. If you are brave enough to dare to seek out this legendary tomb, and plunder it's secrets then read on...
This game will be my first time running a play-by-post, so you will have to bear with me as I stumble my way through the process. We will be beginning the campaign with the module J1: Entombed with the Pharaohs, and if we manage to get through that, J4: The Pact Stone Pyramid. If somehow by the end of all that this thing hasn't fallen apart, then I have a few ideas that I'm willing to try and cobble together into an extended campaign :)
Characters (4 slots, plus one already filled, an Archivist Bard):
Stat gen: 20 point buy
Races: Core and Featured Races (Chapters 1 & 2 from the advanced race guide) allowed, ask about Uncommon Races (Chapter 3) first.
Classes: Most Pathfinder classes available, no 3PP. Most archetypes available as well, but the more controversial ones like Synthesist are out.
Alignment: Non-Evil please.
Level: 6
Traits: 2
HP: Max at first level, then average (round up, d10->6, d8->5, etc)
Starting Gear: Standard wealth by level (16,000gp), plus a free basic Wayfinder.
Paizo stuff allowed, 3PP with permission, any questions just ask!
Your characters are all members of the Pathfinder Society, and have been active primarily in Northern Garund. The Campaign will be taking place almost entirely in Osirion, so knowledge of, and at least a passing interest in Osirion and Ancient Osirion culture is highly recommended. You will be raiding tombs, so expect traps, puzzles, undead, constructs, and all that other fun stuff :)
I do expect character backgrounds, at least a couple of paragraphs, and more is better (within reason, more than a two page word document equivalent is getting a bit much). For posting guidelines please see the guide here by Doomed Hero. I expect everyone to check the thread at least once a day, any extended absences please advise in advance; we all know how life can be, but if we don't hear from you for a week or more you may be replaced.
I may have more information and additional rules to add later on, but this is all I can think of for now, so let the recruitment begin! Recruitment will close Sunday morning (1/9/12), approximately 8am, but may close a day or so early if all the slots are filled before then.

Joana |

Calan Laciar, I suggest you check out the "Doomed Hero" link in the original post; it will tell you all about play-by-post conventions, and you could ask newbie questions over there.
Entombed with the Pharoahs was the first PbP I played in! We didn't get too far into it, but I had a blast. Best of luck with your game. :)

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

If I could submit a character (soul knife by dream scarred press) I would love to play
Ahh Psionics right? I've never actually looked into that at all, so I'd prefer to keep things generally to Paizo stuff, with some minor additions from third party, rather than adding a whole new optional system, sorry.
I'm interested, but I've never played by Post before either. Is there someplace we could talk without filling this thread with posts?
Like Joana said, the Doomed Hero thread has most of the information you need as far as etiquette and posting goes. I suggest giving that a good read and coming back if you've still got questions. The link again if you need it http://paizo.com/forums/dmtz5dpx?DHs-Guide-to-Play-By-Post-gaming
EDIT: So did that have what you wanted then Joana? I pretty much joined play by posts for the same reason, though for me it's more because I feel much more comfortable roleplaying when not in front of others :)

Tenro |

the psionics rules were updated by dreamscarred press to be in line with the PF rules and the basic psionics stuff is actually on the PFSRD here (Psionics).
but if you don't want psionics i can understand. it is 3rd party and they got rid of the easily broken stuff like 3.5's Overchannel/body fuel.

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

This does sound interesting. :)
I have an idea for a LN Sorceror/Monk with a fascination wih ancient Osirion..
Thoughts?
Uhh well Monks are difficult enough with MAD (multiple ability score dependance) and throwing Sorcerer in there you're going to be adding an extra stat you need to boost, so that might be a bit difficult for you. There's always the Empyreal sorcerer which lets you use Wisdom instead of Charisma.
I'll leave the decision up to you, it is an interesting enough idea, just a bit mechanically challenging.

Hmmm, well I'll look over the link, and consider it. Did you have a background in mind for this character?
The Play by Post style is very similar to how I used to RP on IMVU, save for using formating, which I'm fine with. It makes things a lot easier in my mind. On that note, I'll step into the Dunes with a NG Garundi Cleric.
Cleric of ?

Of Sarenrae, with the Healing and Sun Domains, if those are fine with you.

Ahh, a classic :D Although being a Garundi is new.

Algharud N´Butu |

Algharud is just a mercenary praying to Nethys, the All-Seeing Eye. He does his bloody work good and reliable and most of the time wishes to be on his own. He is just that kind of useful mountain of muscles, that you want to have between yourself and the enemy when times get rough. So far, nobody cared to habe a longer conversation with Algharud.
His tribe worshipped Nethys wholeheartedly. This worship was mostly out of fear, because to the N´Butu, Magic is dangerous and certainly uncontrollable. So they worshipped Nethys to keep magic from harming them.
One grim day, the N´Butu got annihilated by an evil blue dragon to which they didn´t want to bend their knee. Algharud was the only survivor from the terrible battle that the dragon brought upon the N´Butu.
A born survivor, Algharud made the way all across the desert to the next bigger city.
I don´t care which city it may be. Choose the one that best fits your campaign.
From this point on, Algharud worked as a desert guide and mercenary. He did quite well and soon became the go-to-guy for dangerous trips into the endless sands. He is still very superstitious and prefers not to deal with casters. Although, he already learned to control that urge. Only in situations of extreme stress (=rage), his aversion versus all things magic comes out again.
Algharud likes sugar canes, lollipops and all things sweet and sticky. Nobody dared telling him, that these are meant for children, though, because Algharud has a quick temper even for a barbarian and doesn´t take criticism lightly...
Don´t be afraid, I will play this one group-compatible. If you want to know more, than just give me a short PN.
This - to my mind - is the important part, crunch follows asap.

I was trying to remember which Bloodline did that, thanks :)
When I originally came up with this concept for 3.5, he was a Monk/Psion. He was raised in a monastery that focused on mind and body being one, so that only seems the right combination. :) Right now, the Monk is his primary focus, but eventually he may shift a bit more to the Sorcerer aspect.

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

lol, two archaeologist/anthropologists in one game, how fun. Don't forget your masterwork brushes!
And neither of them can carry a tune! Or at least not the good one anyway. Yeah that's fine Barnabas.
Hmm, no-one's used the class/archetype I was hoping for yet. Ahh well, still plenty of time...

What combo is that?

Telling would be cheating :p you'll find out eventually.

Barnabas Jones |

Just noticed:
"Characters (4 slots, plus one already filled, an Archivist Bard): "
Right, so...no need for 2 bards. I had archaeology on the brain as I had just submitted a character with that archetype to another game. I'll come up with something that will work better
with the group.
II like the idea of an academic type. Let's see, thus far, sorc, cleric, barb and bard. Looks like there's still room for a bookish rogue!

Barnabas Jones |

Yep. Was just looking over the rogue class. It's been a while since I've played one, and never in pathfinder. That said, it was always one of my favorites to play and I'm excited to play one again. I'm working on a concept now and should have hard submittal for you either late tonight or early tomorrow. It will definitely be a trap removal focused character.

Tenro |

My concept would be an Elan Psion (Nomad - they focus on powers similar to haste, teleport, etc.) and he would later work into levels of Elocater (they continue the theme of movement related abilities).
The character would be a very old individual with a love of history and i think he would like to be working for a museum or something to get the treasures out of the old ruins, if not at least to research the ruins.

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

Design question - can a sorcerer with Wildbloded take the Seeker archetype?
Uhh, yes, I believe they should work okay together. Apply the Wildblood bloodline and then put the seeker archetype over the top of that.
Just finished pouring over all the books I have related to Garundi and Osirion culture. I'm ready for this. :D
Well glad you are so enthusiastic, still a while before recruitment closes and I make my decision :)

Algharud N´Butu |

Algharud enters the lobby of the Pathfinder lodge. He has quite a stern look on his face. Without any regards for the furniture, he lets his nearly two hundred pounds heavy body fall into one of the armchairs there.
He looks around, gets a little lollipop out of his pack and starts eating it slowly.

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

Falstaff
** spoiler omitted **...
Is the Tower Elf anything specific, or a reference to something? I'm afraid I'm not familiar with that. As to the rest of it, as long as you're careful with you uses of evil spells, then it looks okay. Looking forward to the background.
Hi Can I join in? I run a undine female monk, pretty standard. I will adjust her alignment and storyboard later but see if this character class n race fit in.
Yeah, a few changes need to be made there, but nothing wrong with a monk, or Undine. Hmm, who is Cagnazzo by the way? Not familiar with that...

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

So the currently submitted characers...
Arknight with an undetailed Monk/Sorcerer
Calan Laciar with Omari of Sothis, a NG Garundi Cleric of Sarenrae
Tim Bürgers with Algharud N´Butu a N Osirion(?) Barbarian (I'm assuming Osirian, or is he Garundi?)
scranford with Falstaff a LN Elven Necromancer Wizard (Changed your mind from the Barbarian/Ranger?)
Barnabas Jones with an undetailed, bookish Rogue
Lanfearon with Ravalyassa Gladomain a __ Undine Monk
If I've missed anyone let me know!
My concept would be an Elan Psion (Nomad - they focus on powers similar to haste, teleport, etc.) and he would later work into levels of Elocater (they continue the theme of movement related abilities).

Whoops, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner on this one, I think for the moment I'm going to avoid Psionics. If you'd like to submit something different then please feel free.

Algharud N´Butu |

@DM: Really I don´t care much about wether Algharud is Osirian oder Gharundi, because he hails from a very small, independent nomad tribe. However, If you insist on choosing a human sub-race, I will gladly do so.
Concerning Tower Elves: I think, they are an elven sub-race that is introduced in the Advanced Race Guide. In game terms, they are just normal elves with a few substitution race features like a bonus on concentration instead of weapon proficiencies.
@All: Still nobody for small talk?

Venture-Captain Norden Balentii |

Ahh yes, so the tower elf is Algharud. It's not that big a deal what ethnicity you are, only really change your skin colour, but I would like to know.
Hmm, actually looks like Omari is correct, just checked the Inner Sea World guide and the Garundi are listed but not Osiriani. Must just be Hero Labs that distinguishes between the two.
Cagnazzo is a lawful evil deity. But yeah great!! I will do some adjustment and submit a updated Undine monk with a suitable alignment and storyboard to fit in the crew!
Don't forget to level up to 6th too!
