Damage:

I sure as heck hope not - I want to get us up and out without having to worry about him being dead

Since Gilraen goes before Noonan and doesn't know how much damage he's about to inflict, she's more concerned about getting all friendlies up the rest of the steps before Sivikah and the others join the fray than in worrying about Kipper's life.

She flashes a quick grin at Sandara, then shifts her gaze to Rosie and Atlatl: "Please, folks now is the time to break off and head up!"

She'll then step to the side to let folks past and hold action.

Actually, as soon as Noonan goes, if Kipper goes down, Gilraen'll going to try to grab him and see how he's doing.

Heal 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

If he doesn't need stabilizing, she'll start dragging up to the deck (he'll feel less in need of getting back at us if he's on deck when the bell stops). If he needs stabilizing, she'll do that.

"You heard the lady - we're done here. Everyone up on deck!"
"And the story is, there was a loose step. They fell and hit their heads on the stairs. A lot. Let's all keep it straight - tripped on the stairs."

Sidhon briefly tucks the sap from the now-unconscious Maheen under his clothes, then starts dragging Syl towards the next deck up. He grumbles at Syl, "C'mon, shake it off and shift yourself. I'm not built right to carry you over the threshold."

Status Round 5:

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
(move) support/move/drag Syl toward next deck (I think she's the lightest of those who are still down).

Kipper grunts again with the mighty blow from Noonan. Still he doesn't go down.

Sandara casts another Cure Light Wounds on Noonan. 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7. And then begins heading up the next flight of stairs. Gotcha, little lizard guy. 'Wasn't there, didn't do it.' That's our story.

Conchobhar Stops singing (he's out of performance rounds for the day). Yes, we are up and ze are down. Let zem eat ze fruits of zer own actionz. Up to ze top for Conchobhar and ze magnificent Rosie.

Atlatl?

Sidhon has declared his action, if he still intends to pull Syl up another flight of steps. What's Sidhon's strength? She's about 120-130 lbs.

Sidhon's strength is 9. That's a maximum load of #90. So he can drag Syl around at 5'/rd, with no dex bonus. and the stairs are gonna be a bear. If Syl doesn't start staggering along, or someone else doesn't lend a hand, it's going to be very, very close as to whether or not Sidhon and Syl make it up on deck.

On The Other Hand, last GM status update showed Syl at 0 hp (not big negatives), so she may be able to stagger around.

PF SRD wrote:

Disabled (0 Hit Points)

When your current hit point total drops to exactly 0, you are disabled.

You gain the staggered condition and can only take a single move or standard action each turn (but not both, nor can you take full-round actions). You can take move actions without further injuring yourself, but if you perform any standard action (or any other strenuous action) you take 1 point of damage after completing the act. Unless your activity increased your hit points, you are now at –1 hit points and dying.

Since the whole healing/stabilizing of Kipper was unnecessary, Gilraen will glance at the other unconscious folks and see how they are (using the heal check rolled earlier)

@Gilraen~ Your heal checks from last round showed you:
Fipps is badly injured but stable
Narwhal is badly injured but stable
Zorg was unconscious but is clearly better now.
Maheem-you weren't sure last time, and I don't think you can check again unless you want to "take 10 or take 20." But Sandara didn't seem worried about him.

@Sidhon~ Syl seems to stumble a bit with your help, and then looks around confused. Where is the pretty baby? Have to kill the baby girl, taste good with peas and carrots. Then she lurches back down towards Rosie. Attack with knife for lethal damage: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 2 = 11 Miss! And she collapses with the effort.

@Atlatl~ I'll wait a bit longer, and then post an action for you.

Then all four pirates below you are awake, and will have their turn.

Gilraen hadn't actually checked on Fipps last time and she wanted to make sure he was going to be OK. She's going to make sure that Zorg & Sidhon are ahead of her on the stairs before she starts up.

They seem the most fragile. Well, actually Rosie does, but she moves even faster than I do, so I doubt they'll hit her. As for the rest - they know what the plan is and if they decide to engage rather than run away there's not much more I can do

AtlatlWill take one last swing at Kipper before starting up the stairs. Attack:1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 + 2 = 10 MISS!

Kipperwill attack Noonan. 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18 Hit! Nonlethal damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Aretta, Shivikah, and Jape will attempt to move forward out of the fog. Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Aretta stumbles and falls.
Shivikah adeptly keeps her balance.
Jape barely manages to keep his footing.

Shivikah warns Jape, Watch out for that second step, she's broke.

Shivikah and Jape get on either side of Rosie and attack her.
1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 3 + 2 = 171d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 + 2 = 22both HIT! Nonlethal Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 71d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Rosie's hit pretty badly, but still standing.

TOP SECRET PLANS FOR NOONAN no peeking!:
Noonan will first take a swing at kipper
SWING 1d20 + 5 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 1 + 2 = 16 I didn't add 1 for the song to either swing or damage
Damage 1d3 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
and hope Rosie can get the hell out of there. Noonan won't leave her.

If Rosie gets out of there and nobody is on him, Noonan will move 5-10 feet back and wait to see what happens when the bad guys hit the trip wire, hoping for easy attacks of opportunity if they trip. I think this is legit, right?

To be clear, even if it looks like everyone is getting up on deck OK, Noonan will hang on a bit longer with the hopes of beating the ever-lovin' crap outta' some of these guys--or get knocked unconscious trying.

As far as Noonan's concerned, this is just a game. He got a fright when he thought he killed that guy at first, but realizing just how hard it is to kill someone given that there appear to be healers onboard means that this is all just fun. Being beaten to unconsciousness isn't something he fears. If he's being tested right now as he believes he is, he has greater fear of a co-worker perceiving him as being afraid of any individual or group of men and/or women.

If Rosie gets stuck there, and Noonan knocks out Kipper, he'll take the steps back as he feels Rosie should be able to get out and he views fighting on stairs to be a really bad idea. If, on the next turn, Rosie can't get out, Noonan will hurl himself without regard to self over the tripwire and try to land on one of the bad guys--acrobatics is +5-- and go down and help. Momentum should take one guy off of Rosie and maybe do damage?

If Rosie does get out, Noonan will wait for these guys to come up to him, hopefully trip, and get their whoopin'!

If Rosie falls, Noonan will wait for the guys to come up to him, hopefully trip, and get their whoopin'.

Noonan's secret and ideal goal for quite a while now has been to throw the unconscious dwarf down the stairs at the other bad guys. He's has to wait as all of the good guys get out of the way. If the opportunity arises, Noonan would like to toss the dwarf

Of course, if Kipper doesn't fall, then Noonan will keep slugging it out with him.

Noonan also won't go back to the deck without carrying Syl with him (he'd first take away her knife). She feeds him.

TOP of ROUND 6—
The clock has sounded for 6 rounds (1 to get to base of steps, 5 rounds of combat.) You have 4 rounds to finish here, and go up a flight to report for duty on the main deck.

Initiatives:
25- Rosie, down 10 nonlethal hp
21- Gilraen, uninjured
20- Noonan, down 7 nonlethal hp
18- Fipps, -14 hp, & -11 hp nonlethal, stabilized, unconscious,
18- Syl, @ -1 hp, unconscious
18- Maheem, -1 Str, 12 hp nonlethal damage (-1 hp below conscious)
18- Narwhal, - unconscious, stabilized
9- Sandara, -5 hp nonlethal
9- Atlatl, -4 hp nonlethal
6- Sidhon, uninjured
6- Conchobhar, singing inspire courage +1 atk, +1 dam, uninjured
4- Shivikah, uninjured
4- Kipper, down 18 nonlethal
4- Aretta- uninjured, awake, prone
4- Jape- uninjured, awake
3- Zorg- uninjured, awake

Rosie is determined to get Kipper down, despite being surrounded. Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16 HIT! Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7. Then she takes a 5' step up the stairs.

EDIT: In making the map, I saw Rosie had no way to avoid an attack of opportunity if she went up the stairs. Jape's AoO attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19HIT! Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Rosie's still up, but barely.

Gilraen, you're up. And then I'll do Noonan's turn.

OK, Gilraen will hit Rosie with a Cure Light (subbing it in lieu of Comprehend Languages, assuming that's still possible) as she passes by, then head up the steps, sort of moving sideways to avoid having anyone hit her from behind. Wait - no one from our side got past Gilraen last round? She won't head up the stairs until Sidhon & Zorg are ahead of her, so she'll cast the Cure then hold until the end of the round.

Whoops, sorry Zorg. Your spell goes off at the end of round 5. Jape's Will Save: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0 FAIL! Jape is dazed and won't be able to act on his next turn.

Gilraen, you heal Rosie for 7 hp and hold your move action. (I'll check for the future if your actions can be separated like that).

Noonan will pick up the unconscious Narwhal, and try his hand at dwarf tossing. (Improvised Weapon) CMB: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 2 - 4 = 16

Kipper is able to duck quickly, but both Shivikah and Jape are knocked down the stairs.
Acrobatics Shivikah: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19, Acrobatics Jape: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14

Shivikah lands on her feet, but Jape doesn't fare so well.
Jape's Fall damage: 1d6 ⇒ 3, Narwhal's Fall damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Noonan chortles at the mayhem from his toss and looks around for something else to throw.

Sandara pauses on the steps up, wondering if her healing will be needed again.

Conchobhar pauses out of concern for Rosie.

Sidhon and Atlatl you are up. Sidhon, keep or adjust your declared actions?

@Sidhon:
1. You peeked at Noonan's Top Secret Spoiler! You peeked! But actually, he's simply waiting for his next turn. Picking up Narwhal was his move, and tossing him was his attack. I was just adding a little Noonan color as he waits to see how the round plays out.

Hey, given the following: "The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points." and that Noonan normally has 15 HP, is there any chance that Noonan isn't actually knocked out with the 17 nonlethal? Not sure I really know what the quote means.

Kipper went down with Rosie's hit.

Noonan makes mental note that this angel of healing who has come to his aid is a powerful friend to have.

He hears her say something about Narwhal and briefly wonders who or what Narwhal is...but more serious matters remain incomplete:

He jumps to his feet feeling new life in his body and takes a few steps back so that there are about 10-15 feet separating him from the tripwire. He crouches, ready to spring, but waiting...

Noonan will delay his move until someone trips over (or successfully crosses) the tripwire. He's hoping for a free shot or two on whomever may trip.

I'm not sure about the combo of moving just a little and attacking, but suffice it to say that if the above has to be altered in some way to ensure that Noonan gets to enjoy an attack of opportunity or two, please feel free to make the necessary changes as that's the primary goal; deferring his move until he can use it to hurt bad guys.

In my circles we say "mercury must be in retrograde." The god Mercury and the astrological sign both rule communication, travel, and technology. They have all gone flooey lately. Syl is revivable with slight healing.

Kipper could get on his feet with a slight healing.

Maheen and Fipps would both need significant healing to get on their feet. Maheen is average sized. Fipps is enormous. (if you were considering carrying them)

Kipper never told anyone about the tripwire so I will give people some time to respond, and then I will role acrobatics checks for the people coming up. PM me if you would like to do anything in regards to that. I will adjudicate in initiative order.

Noonan then recognizes that everyone somehow knows his name and is talking to him...and is a bit more confused. The confusion escalates to become overwhelming when good guys start helping others up...

Head spinning a bit, Noonan takes the knife away from Syl, picks her up tenderly and carries her like a princess to the deck. He'll run if that's what he has to do to get back up in time.

Zorg turns around and looks down at the others in disbelief. "My, ain't we a caring bunch? What are ye bothering with them for? Stop the bleeding and let 'em lie!" He then turns back and heads up the last few steps.

Just a tally:

Noonan is carrying Syl to the top.

Jape and Shivikah are putting Narwhal down at Gilraen's feet (they don't want to be associated with trouble if he dies, but they dont' care about him enough to carry him all the way up).

Aretta is headed up.

Maheem, Kipper, and Fipps are unconscious and stable in the cargo hold.

Conchobhar casts a Cure Light on Rosie before she even notices 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 and heads up.

Rosie heads up.

Sandara is waiting to see if anyone needs help.

Sidhon, Gilraen, Atlatl, are you doing anything else before heading to the main deck?

The steps are narrower than I portrayed, actually only 5' wide, but if everyone moves quickly without pushing you can all get to the deck on time.

Sidon is torn between heading directly for the deck, and helping one of the other attackers up. Internally, he shrugs, recognizes the limitations of his size and the impending traffic jam. He tugs on atlatl's sleeve, and heads up behind noonan.

Not wanting to help the fallen Atlatl heads up.

Gilraen will cast stabilize on Narwhal. If we've got to go single file, then she'll to have to wait a couple seconds anyway. She'll glance at Sandara and say I'm all out of actual healing for the day and everyone is at least stable, let's head up.

Remember folks, a very badly broken step caused this.

Avast there ya scurvy dogs! Thanks for the reminder about this all-too-important holiday. The war on Pirates Day must cease!

So when Aretta, Japes, and Shivikah arrive on deck, relatively unscathed, Scourge gives a satisfied grin. When he sees Noonan and Zorg and the rest of you, however his expression darkens, especially at Sidhon. As Kipper, Fipps, Narwhal and Maheem fail to show his face gets blacker still. Shortly after Gilraen brings up the rear the hideous clock ceases its clamour.

Scourge paces in front of the lot of you menacingly, noting the various scrapes and bruisies. When he sees the unconscious Syl in Noonans arms he shouts at the large man, What is the meaning of this?

While Scourage is focused on Noonan, Sidhon sidles quietly to an unobtrusive spot next to, but slightly behind, Shivikah. "Gilraen or Sandara will lead out the story - just follow along," Sidhon hisses to her very quietly, "hopefully we can all keep this 'tween us crew."

Stealth (hiding behind Shivikah): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26

Pardon me for speaking out of turn, sir, but there's a badly broken step down there. Several people fell and were injured. We helped as best we could to get them up here without being late ourselves. Sandara and I have stabilized the others so they aren't in any danger.

Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

Don't know if you are willing to give me a bonus since I'm not even technically lying. :)

Zorg nods enthusiastically at Gilraen's story.

Aid Another (bluff): 1d20 ⇒ 2
