Point Blank Stance as a ranger

Advice

I may have missed something, but according to my research point blank stance is legal for rangers to take at lvl 1 but it does not populate in herolab online. It does populate in Pathbuilder, so My question is, did rangers unlock fighter feats in a later book, or is pathbuilder or herolab tripping.

I have the Gmcore, core1, and core2 for herolab. Pathbuilder is pathbuilder. I just can't seem to get point blank stance to work for ranger in herolab, even with the fighter dedication
Any insight would be appreciated

OK. Some technical clarifications. I think this is what you meant, but I'm not certain that it is what you said.

Point Blank Stance is a Fighter Feat 1.

It would not be legal for a Ranger to take it at Ranger level 1 because it is a Fighter feat, not a Ranger feat. But you should be able to take it via the Fighter Archetype.

That said...

Yes, it should be allowed to take Fighter Dedication as early as level 2 and then take Basic Maneuver to get Point Blank Stance as early as level 4.

My only thought for user error is to forget the intermediate step of Basic Maneuver (or Advanced Maneuver). You can't directly put a Fighter feat into a Ranger feat slot at any level. I haven't used Herolab, but Pathbuilder doesn't allow that either.

If that isn't the problem and you can put in other level 1 Fighter feats on your character when you take Basic Maneuver, then I think Herolab is tripping. The 'requirement: you are wielding a ranged weapon' should be checked when you use the stance, not when you take the feat.

I'm not sure what the source was that told you that feat is available to a 1st level ranger?

It is a Fighter feat, and it is available from the Archer archetype. It is not in Ranger (either in CRB or in Player Core), and I dont recall ever seeing any other book say it would be added to ranger's feat list.

Opening up the Pathbuilder app, I also don't see Point Blank Stance on the list for a level 1 ranger, so I don't think it's a bug there. You didn't do something like put an archer archetype on a ranger, and hit it as an illegal selection, right? Pathbuilder will allow someone to select a feat without the right level or prereq, and just show a little warning message, but that's the only way I see it letting me put PBS on a level 1 ranger.

I thought OP might be confusing Pf1 with PF2, but Point Blank in PF1 was Point Blank [b]Shot[/s] not Stance. And in PF1 Ranger got their combat style feat at level 2, although they could have picked up Point Blank Shot at level 1 in general as it has no requirements.

If OP is indeed talking about PF2, then by default a Ranger has no way of picking up the feat without multiclassing into the fighter dedication or archer dedication.

Assuming no free archetype rules in play, that would mean you wouldn't be able to get Point Blank Stance as a non-fighter until level 4 at the earliest.

So OP, regardless of the exact situation I think you're probably in error.

I'm also a bit unsure how you made Pathbuilder give you the feat at level 1. It should be throwing you errors because it's not possible.

Thank you all, I might have done something in Pathbuilder. (IE ancient Elf fighter ded) It is the only thing I can think of cause when i tried to reproduce the outcome on pathbuilder it was locked. So I thank All of you for answering the question on such short notice and being kind to a noob.
