If my exemplar is wielding a staff in two hands, it does d8 damage. If I then follow up a successful two-handed strike with Strike, Breathe, Rend, does it do d8 damage, or d4?

Seems too bad to be true if it is stuck at d4.

Two-Hand
Player Core pg. 283
This weapon can be wielded with two hands to change its weapon damage die to the indicated value. This change applies to all the weapon’s damage dice.

Strike, Breathe, Rend: "The target of the Strike takes spirit damage equal to the noble branch’s weapon damage dice."

If you're wielding it in 2 hands, your weapon damage die is 1d8.

Oops. Forgot about Humble Strikes, which would make it d6 and d10, respectively.

Well, whichever die size it has while being wielded 2-handed, that is the damage die you are rolling.

For as long as you are Wielding the weapon 2-handed, it is a 2-handed weapon and the 2-hand trait will apply. When Strike, Breathe, Rend checks the die size of the weapon, the size has changed to the 2-hand die size.

Thanks everyone. I thought for sure the consensus was going to be the opposite. It's a relief to see that, that is not the case.
