The Slayer really should have a list of creature types listed and under each creature type, a unique ability per signature tool is listed

If the tropny has an elemental trait that trophy when it reinforces an item that item changes the damage of that weapon to that element -or- provides resistance to that element if I put it on my armor.

This would provide a lot more of an interesting class where I feel like I want to hunt say.. an undead that is on fire, like a burning skeleton so that I can get a fire blade that has whatever additional abilities I gained from the trophy being from an undead creature.

A good example is using a plant trophy would provide my weapon reach 10'

Actually after thinking about it a bit more, I'd remove all of the signature tool abilities and make them unique abilities depending on what unique trophy you are using.

Yeah, I think most people here agree that trophies are a bit lackluster right now. I personally would prefer a more in-depth trophy system with tons of customization options over tools and some of the ranger-like features.

Looking at the Inventor, we can see that extensive lists are viable. This includes unlocking (or having the ability to unlock) greater abilities at different tiers. I'd even say toss out the Relentless-trait experiment to bear down stronger on the trophies, add more feats that utilize them, including in-combat procurement w/ effects and buffs.

As they are, trophies maybe warrant a subclass or Archetype (an opinion my local VC shared last night), but hardly have the appeal to warrant the trophy-collecting effort & bookkeeping (Mark Quarry being what it is now).

I personally think the classes main schtick should just be about collecting trophies and that's how we get a lot of the variation in the class abilities and functionality. That would be really cool imo.

Might make up a new post on this, but I agree trophies are the clear major feature of the class right now and should get more focus.

I think largely trophy use has three obvious categories: weapon, armor, and tools. The first two are self-explanatory, the third is a catch-all for imitating the abilities of monsters. But also the easiest place to add a bunch of feats for specialized tools that can be modified with trophies for additional effects.

Would this make it too close in flavor to the thaumaturge?

I'm having some doubts about the damage types a trophy is associated with.

The text is "A trophy’s damage types are any damage types that the creature could deal with its Strikes or non-spellcasting abilities, or that the creature had immunity to."

My doubt is wether i choose all the damage types that are present in the Strikes, non-spellcasting abilities and immunities? Or do I choose one of these categories? or do i decide between strikes+abilities or immunities?

I take as an example the invidiak. As immunity it has poison damage. As strike it has cold and spirit. And as an ability it has mental damage. A trophy collected from this creature will have poison, cold, mental and spirit damage?

I dislike the immunity to X granting ability to do damage type X. The Invidiak, to borrow the same example, thematically has zero to do with poison, yet bottle some of its ectoplasm and your weapon drips venom? Or how about when a creature is immune because it's the antithesis of that damage. Ex. a Remorhaz burns so hot it's immune to cold, but cut away one of its heat-generating glands so you can apply cold damage? That's trudging into Thaumaturge cosmic-vibes & true essences territory. I'd think Slayer would operate a bit more grounded, dare I say meatier.

What I want to see is the ability to hunt and gain unique abilities from things you hunt there's roleplay benefits from being like, "Im searching for a vampire..." so you can get some vampire like ability.

Yeah, the lack of special abilities makes the ability a bit tepid, but anything more would be difficult to flesh out and it'd remain incomplete. Or require a lot of adjudication.
