Hi all, I have an odd question. Our table plays with open information, meaning players know monster statistics. What are some ideas for making Recall Knowledge provide a mechanical benefit in this situation, that doesn't overshadow the other ways different classes can get add-on benefits to a Recall Knowledge roll? Some suggestions I've gotten are allowing it to reduce one save by -1, or giving it effects similar to other skill actions that athletics, deception, and intimidate have. (I'm not looking for comments on whether or not playing this was is a good idea, just suggestions for what Recall Knowledge might do in this situation). Thanks!

At that point it's not Recall Knowledge anymore, is it? And a PC could simply not Recall Knowledge. Why substitute anything? Or are there specific situations to be addressed, i.e. Monster Hunter or Knowledge Domain? If so I think solutions would come case by case, balanced to similar investments.
ETA: In other words, they're already gaining the benefits of Recall Knowledge, so why add a mechanic to give players/PCs even more benefits?

Mostly to keep class options that rely on it, such as Mastermind Rogue, Monster Hunter Ranger, or Combat Assessment Fighter, feeling like they're as viable as other picks.

If you're going to use it with those, retaining the reaction cost of Aid might be good.

Yeah, thanks for the suggestion. Most of these builds work through RC as a free action, so they'd basically be able to aid with a skill they're good at for the cost of a reaction, which seems like a good fit for the minor, consistent mechanical bonus I was looking for.

Easy, Mastermind Rogue automatically gets their Sneak Attack if they spend an action "knowing", with no roll, no worries.
Master Hunter Ranger provides its bonuses automatically in the same way; first w/ any enemy they have the ID skill for, then just needing Nature w/ the 10th level feat.
And Combat Assessment Fighter...do those exist? They could provide a +1 circumstance bonus to the next attacker (and w/o a Reaction to Aid, since that's often a poor trade for their better Reactions).
