Posting this with less than a week to go before the official release of Starfinder second edition. I've been looking forward to the launch and thinking about characters to build in the new system. Thought it'd be fun to compare notes. Are you building something new, or rebuilding a first edition character?
For me, I like to build new characters with new editions. In this case, I'm building a character from an NPC in a first edition bounty.
Ajanu is a borai lashunta witchwarper. He and his mother were killed in a lab disaster. Mom became a ghost. Ajanu became a borai. Starfinders helped his mother find her final rest. He's a scientist background, analyst witchwarper. His anchor are his core memories of a mother's love.
Now he's got a new career as a starfinder, but his dream is to get his garage band up and running.
If you know the bounty and remember the art -- He's got grunge band vibes for sure.
So who's your first character? What's the inspiration?

While I know a few players who plan to rebuild 1E Society characters to play in 2E, I prefer to explore new characters. (Though I did make a 15th-level version of my oldest 1E SFS character for Playtest Scenario #4, to see how similar and how different operatives are between editions.)
I've registered 4 SFS 2E characters so far, but I'm unsure which will be my primary character at first (especially since it looks like I'll be GMing the final 2E rules before I play them).
- Division By Zero, contemplative witchwarper, who continually analyzes his surroundings to pierce the veil between realities.
- Showtime Joro, human envoy, who embarked on a career as an adventuring musician to differentiate themself from other Joros.
- Shuulathanna, aquatic astrazoan operative, whose primary identity is a fashionable kalo.
- Rising Galeforce, barathu soldier, who uses their Large size to protect their teammates and help them achieve their mission.

I recycled the character I'd planned to try in SFS 1 before I realized I couldn't fit some SFS1 sessions into my Gamehole Con sessions. Although I actually put my Nova Rush chronicle on my -2702 since I didn't want this character to be level 3 by the end of gencon and I'm still on the fence as to whether or not to give Edriel the 1-00 chronicle.

My first concept is a "lone wolf" cyberpunk vlaka named Newvir Kor, a laser-heavy action hero soldier that also wields a fangblade. Has at least implants for telepathy and autorecognition, and more as time goes on. Also made him Prismeni with the Living Battery feat, to make sure he and his allies always have charged batteries before every battle.
Specific to Invasion's Edge metaplot games, I built an android sniper operative Magpie B. who knows everything First Ones - they has the tech delver background, giving them Additional Lore for First Ones, plus the Android Lore feat to know about their most enduring accomplishment, and (through the Xenoarcheologist archetype) will soon get Delve Lore and make them even more valuable on expeditions in and around The Returned. I'm looking forward to seeing what gets uncovered!

Mena is someone I've been playing in Playtests already.
When she was 13, she woke up in a parallel universe, she was still in the exact same place in Absolum Station as she had been the night before, but now it wasn't her bedroom it was someone else's home office.
In this universe, he parents had one date, it didn't work out and they never saw each other again.
She's a Human Anomaly Witchwarper, and her Anchor is a necklace she got from her real mother.

I got just enough ACP at Free RPG Day to buy a legacy admission boon, so;
Inga Stonebreaker is a dwarven asteroid miner from the diaspora. From an early age she was a fan of heavy metal music, and manifested the powers of a rhythm mystic in her own compositions.
Like Ajanu, she's just starfinding till her musical career takes off.
Any day now...
