You do not get a Hunters Edge with the Ranger Archetype, only training in survival and the hunt prey action.

Yeah, the Ranger dedication is pretty bad.
So you could absolutely take the dedication, and even Warden's Boon feat (at 16th level) but you don't have a Hunter's Edge to grant, so you would only grant the Hunt Prey bonuses (which are negligible for the most part).
So it wouldn't be a good decision.
As to why is the ranger dedication so bad....well probably they couldn't figure out how to partially scale it.
For spell caster's there multiple feats to get incrementally more spell casting, but you're never as good at it as the true spell casting class.
But there's not a frame work for how to progress something like Hunter's Edge that would be balanced.
The fighter has a similar problem, that the fighter's main thing is actually just its better proficiency with weapons. The dedication won't ever get you to fighter levels. It does allow you to get to expert (at 12th level) if you were a class that didn't already progress all martial and simple weapons. But most martial classes get expert weapons at level 5, and are getting master at level 13 (so it's pretty far behind).
What is attractive about the fighter dedication is that it's a straight forward way to access Reactive Strike and some of the fighter feats, which are really good. But you don't get to poach it's main ability (which is just better proficiency).
But yeah, it seems likely that you didn't understand what the Ranger multiclass was actually granting you if you didn't realize you didn't get the Ranger's edge, and you might want to reconsider the dedication.
