EDIT
Well, we could just include the skills we are likely to use. No point for me to include Religion, if I never plan to use it, right? Yeah, that is what I was thinking. The stuff you might be trained in and likely to use. I mean, if a GM wants me to add those things I will, but every knowledge stat and every other stat is right there on the alias page, just a click away. I have profiles already built so no real need to update tag lines unless you want to. Typically it should have in-game updates though, to things like conditions, HP, etc that change over time.

I'm so sorry, but I think I am going to have to withdraw from this one... I am just about to start a Daggerheart game on the boards and I got a PFS game coming up that I will try running!
I have made the mistake of spreading myself thin.
Again, sorry folks!

Same here. Bard, Fighter and Monk are pretty good. We might need some more healing though! Champions are great at it.

Defeating giant arachnids notwithstanding, his adventuring life isn't starting off with the successes he was expecting, that's for sure. He's not going to make things even worse by abandoning allies.

As a 3-man party with Krrys'tall not being optimized, our combat options are limited. In and out of character, I was worried about that fight, if we had tried to just bash our way out. I'm hoping we can find some sneaky ways to get around the problems.

You know. Vako can just start casting offensive cantrips at the guards from inside the cage if Neppka and Krrys'tall feel like holding the cage closed. It's a very hostile move but...
For one I think both of you guys are good at Unarmed fighting and... we have three NPCs that might be willing to join in.

Guys.. we have at least three magic users in here protected by a cage and what looks like pretty low level melee outside.... Should Vako start slinging spells?

Up to you. Strategically, it might work out.
Tengu Fighter 1 | AC 18 | F +7, R +7, W +3 | Per +5 | HP 18/18
I feel like one spellcaster inside the cage isn't going to do much good if we stay inside the cage; they can just stab at us through the bars. If we somehow get out of the cage to fight, it seems like we'll actually be in a worse position than when we had our weapons (and we decided to surrender).
I'm not sure how you're seeing that battle play out?
Lesy Bard 1| Speed 25 ft | HP 17/17 | AC 17 | Perception (E) +6 | F +4 R +6 W +6 | Exploration Activity: Scout| Status: | Hero Points: 1
So there's six people in the cage and there seems to be enough space to move around and get away from the sides of the cage. But also from what I can tell there's at least three and maybe four spellcasters.
Sorry, had to go out of town for work unexpectedly yesterday and did not have the means to post.

No worries, if you want to use the arrow tools to show your movement path, that's preferred but not required. That way if there is a trap (there's not one in this cage) then we will both know if you trigger it or not.
I am also away for the long weekend, and then flying out for work things T-TH so my posting this week will be spotty.

Getting Neppka back up is paramount. I don't really have many options for a fight like this, and even my crits don't hit very hard.

Can I retcon my action to be a Soothe instead of a Haunting Hymn?
If so it'll be Soothe heal: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The dwarven cleric has the heals, so you can go ahead with your attack if you want to, Vako. LMK which you prefer.

I think we can negotiate leaving as most of their frontline is down.
Tengu Fighter 1 | AC 18 | F +7, R +7, W +3 | Per +5 | HP 18/18
Apologies for the delay, but can I get a rundown on what actions are available to me while I'm prone? I'm assuming that unless Yellow has Reactive Strike or similar, I can just pick up my dropped weapon and take the Stand action without issue? If so, that would be two actions, correct?
That just seems really easy compared to 1E, so I want to make sure.

Low level enemies normally do not have attacks of opportunity. We would need knowledge rolls to make sure. DM might throw us a bone, but I would just say to risk it.
Also, do we like the phonetically spelled out speech for Krrys'tall more, or should I revert back to normal spelling?

Krrys'tall wrote: Low level enemies normally do not have attacks of opportunity. We would need knowledge rolls to make sure. DM might throw us a bone, but I would just say to risk it. Okay, thanks. Unless DMDE says something different, that's probably what I'll do when it's Neppka's turn then.
Quote: Also, do we like the phonetically spelled out speech for Krrys'tall more, or should I revert back to normal spelling? I don't mind it, but I have made a PbP character with a thick accent before where I spell out the words phonetically, and I kinda wish I hadn't. Granted, this is the longest-running PbP I've been in on these boards (8 years!), but I feel like the accent has grown stale, and I sometimes just narrate what he tells the party so that I don't have to think about how the words are spelled phonetically and then second-guess myself that his speech is too hard to read.
That advice is just warning that it can be too cumbersome to keep up; I'm not saying that it bothers me.

Standing from prone and grabbing your weapon are two separate actions. Some creatures do have reactive strike or other reactions that allow them to attack, but you have not seen that displayed by these Varisians so far. Way fewer AoO in 2nd ed than in 1E.

I don't think we want to mess with the new enemy right? Should we try to leave or try and talk if someone speaks the language?

I was thinking that we should offer them the chance to surrender and see what happens.
Vako The Whistler wrote: I don't think we want to mess with the new enemy right? Should we try to leave or try and talk if someone speaks the language? The Varisians do speak Common as well as their own language -- you have heard them speak it to you in fact. The dwarf was speaking Dwarvish when he called out, but not sure what else he may speak or understand at this point. Since the writing before was in Dwarvish and one could decipher, I don't think any of you speak that language, but at least one of the NPCs probably does...

I think chance to surrender would be great. Krrys'tall is all for the non-violent option.

I asked someone who posted looking for a game if they wanted to join us BTW. Not sure if they will want to but I sent them the gameplay link so they could read up. Offered them one of these NPCs or making a whole new PC if they wish.
LMK if this game is working for you. It's all made up kinda on the fly, which is the beauty of PBP -- could not do that in table-top most likely. Open to any feedback.

I'm loving how this game is going. I like how you're adapting what's going on to whatever choices we make (or how many PCs we happen to have). I like how you have the NPCs interact with the characters instead of just responding with some predetermined motivation. I also love that my weird bird-man isn't the most unusual PC in the group. :)

I have to say this whole scene at the camp did not go as I expected. But you somehow survived fighting off the whole troop of bad guys (with some help).
Tengu Fighter 1 | AC 18 | F +7, R +7, W +3 | Per +5 | HP 18/18
I didn't expect that we'd just walk right in to their camp to be captured. :)
But yeah, that fight could have gone very differently. I also think that you had dropped enough hints for us to reasonably guess that we weren't in immediate danger from the Varisians.
