Spore War Character Concepts?

So, I honestly thought someone else would beat me to making this thread, but apparently we've gotten all the way past book 1's release without it! The Player's Guide gives a pretty broad variety of options, considering one could be a hero from pretty much anywhere in the Inner Sea, as long as your character cares at least a little about Kyonin.

I've got two ideas right now - the first is a Aiuvarin Gnome Fey sorcerer, inspired by a fun cover of the ballad Tam Lin (amusingly, the elven parent is actually the Tam Lin equivalent, the gnome is the one who gathered up the family lore, and went and tricked a faerie queen). A second-generation adventurer feels like a fun dynamic to play with, and I haven't given sorcerer a go yet.

The other option I'm considering is a leaf order druid fungus leshy named Hyphae Song - the player's guide mentions that a lot of fungus leshies have a bad rap in Kyonin, for Treerazer-related reasons, but one of the (many) cool things fungus do, IRL, is act as symbiotes to trees, both helping them absorb nutrients, and to communicate with the rest of the forest. Playing about with that in the Fungus Demon AP seemed like an interesting time.

So, what sort of heroes are you thinking of bringing, and are they new characters or returning from a previous AP?

It would be interesting to play as some sort of high level diplomatic corps type of character. I'm not sure for this one what I would build.

I've mentioned this concept in the Player's Guide thread: Jinsiel Brightbough, male kitsune/aiuvarin (Jinin elf) Student of Archery rogue (ruffian racket) with the duelist archetype. Jinsiel is a "pseudo-ranger/-ronin" that is aligned with the forces containing Tanglebriar (and dealing, permanently when possible, with other monstrous threats). Foxfire (electricity), Hybrid Form, and Otherworldly Magic (frostbite); expert in Crafting and Deception, Master in Intimidation, Stealth, Survival, and Thievery; Magical Crafting and Monster Crafting; fights with a splithead bow version of a daikyu or North wind's night verse (katana; can do Sneak Attack damage one-handed with the ruffian racket benefit; Str +4, Dex +5), with handwraps of mighty blows as a backup for the Foxfire ranged unarmed attack. Also has a guise of the smirking devil mask and wildwood ink and wyrm on the wing (horned/poison) tattoos.

Jinsiel chose electricity over fire for the Foxfire damage since another PC concept is an elf/naari Portal Scholar psychic (Gathered Lore, Oscillating Wave) that can do plenty of fire (and cold) damage...

Liberty's Edge

The PC I envision for this is a Droomar alijae elf Bloodrager born and raised by Matanji orcs.

So that I can play him in both Triumph of the Tusk and Spore War if ever possible.

He will be sent by the Matanji to Ardax's gathering to represent them and get a feel for the honorability of Ardax's intention as well as his true power in Belkzen.

After the events of Triumph of the Tusk, he will have been noticed by the Kyonin elves and/or sent by Ardax as a trusted emissary. Zazirele, the alijae fiancé of Queen Edasseril, will take him under his wing for a while and later volunteer the PC's service in view of the diplomatic alliance.

Starting Spore War this week!

Idari "Lucky Strikes" Lucien

Ancestry: Ilverani Elf (Cavern)

Class: Barbarian (Spirit)

Archetypes: Dandy / Twight light Speaker

As the Kyonin Queen has called for a Diplomatic envoy to represent the Ilveranii, the Elders have chosen newly raised Twight light Speaker Idari Lucien as their representative.

I was personally imagining myself as either a Jon Snow-ish type of character that is a forlorn Elf Champion or Ranger, veteran from other knightly orders or that spent time studying them and feels more like a disgruntled, dirty, experient and merciless bloodhound than anything in contrast to them usual pompous and beautiful other elves.

Another possibility would be a Runesmith with similar vibes but focusing more on the scholar/traveler aspect than disgruntled veteran.

Both of them would want to bring a more military side to the table instead of more usual diplomacy, wouldnt talk much, but when they talk they go straight to the point and like way too much honest

Considering how much the Player's Guide emphasises Warfare Lore as the most relevant lore, I think it's pretty likely that there's either gonna be a bunch of opportunities for you to interrupt with some strategy, or that after Book 1 the AP rapidly becomes entangled with some manner of military campaign, with the PCs running around behind enemy lines as a small scouting group and causing trouble.

I've got the beginnings of a character brewing, though I need to tweak them, because as of now they are predicated on knowing who the big bad will be before the adventure starts.

I'm thinking of using Roll for Combat's Classic Creatures to play as an intelligent weapon, an axe that has a rivalry with, not Treerazor, but his weapon, the Blackaxe. Arborbane--name subject to change--knows that all trees must be chopped, and they refuse to be out-chopped by some hunk of fiendish pigiron on a stick!
Also all of the elves dying is bad, probably.

As I GMed Gatewalkers I did not get to play the character I built for it. Enter magic elf AP part 2!

An elf whose parent died from the obnubilate curse when they were young. They were taken in by a mother puma and raised as one of her own own-which might be less metaphor than expected as the elf has a beastkin ancestry. They outlived their (pride?), but were never able to fully embrace elven villagers either. Which of course led to the heroes welcome they imagined they saw on the other side of the aiudara before stepping through. This granted them the eerie flicker deviant ability.

Ten levels later and they been through more gates than most, visited elves in forgotten tribes, and even the the elven homeworld. The Portal Scholar background is a good fit as someone who has more motivation than most to study the aiudara. A laughing shadow magus, but maybe an Unbound step psychic were the plan based on eerie flicker. Both will work well with Portal Scholar. If my table goes into free-archetype (we usually do) I might choose a different deviant ability and take more deviant feats. (propulsive leap just looks fun :) or maybe both magus & psychic!

With the Starfinder Playtest, I'd probably ask to play a Lashunta Bard or Psychic who's a researcher from Castrovel that study the aiudara, and fears that Treerazer might gain control of the Elf Gates and invade Castrovel next. Knowing my GMs, with a character like this in the campaign their fears would probably be justified, and they might save their home planet as well as Kyonin from the demonic danger.
