Alternatives to Artisan's Tools?

Advice

I'm playing a character that's deeply invested in their crafting skill for the first time and I noticed that the book says you need different sets of Artisan's Tools for different crafting. Now I could shove the different kits into a Spacious Pouch but I'm still curious to know if there's any alternative to needing to haul around a whole bunch of Artisan's Toolkits?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Simplest one is "talk to your GM". Some GMs don't care much about this and will say "if you have artistans tools of any type, you're fine."

Aside from that, I think you got the standard solution: Spacious Pouch and carry lots of sets of tools. Past low level it's not any real kind of hinderance since even if you don't have the necessary tools, it becomes trivial to craft the toolkit itself first.

Well, anyways, I was just saying that I thought there was a magical item that acted as ALL the artisan's toolkits. Sadly, I've been unable to find it.

Are you thinking of the Traveler's Any-Tool? It doesn't at all replicate toolkits in 2e, but the 1e version of it acted as MW artisan's tools for most uses

I'm pretty familiar with the anytool, and that's not what I had in mind when I posted earlier.
