If a shield has shield spikes, or is one of the fancier shields like a razor disk where it has an attached weapon, can that shield still do the basic 1d4 shield bash, like a versatile weapon that does less damage for bludgeoning, or does this effectively "replace" bludgeoning damage in its entirety, meaning you're better off making your actual WEAPON versatile if you're reluctant to sheathe and draw weapons mid-fight?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Shield Boss and Shield Spikes both replace your normal Shield Bash, but the Razor Disc does not, though it does prevent you from attaching a Shield Boss or Shield Spikes (because those are Attached, and Integrated calls out being unable to use any Attached weapons).

You also can't combine it with a Shield Augmentation, because Shield Augmentation isn't allowed to combine with Attached weapons, and Integrated works "like an attached weapon".

But a Razor Disc and the Klar do still have access to the normal shield bash. So a Razor Disc can do either d6 Slashing (Integrated) or d4 Bludgeoning (Shield Bash). And a Klar can do d6 Slasing or d6 Piercing (Integrated, with Versatile P) or d4 Bludgeoning (Shield Bash).
