So, after listening to more SF2E discussion from Paizocon,it's looking like the six SF2E classes are going to be each using a different attribute for their key stat, at least initially.
Strength= Solarian
Dexterity= Operative
Constitution= Soldier
Intelligence= Witchwarper
Wisdom= Mystic
Charisma= Envoy
What do folks think of this design? I personally like it. It sends the message that each attribute is important to someone, which I think will be a big help to new players. Less substantially, the symmetry makes my pattern-seeking side happy, which I also like.
I'm not entirely sure it will survive the playtest, the soldier I could see being swapped to strength or getting a flexible stat come the finish, but I sort of hope it does.

All the boxes are checked, makes my brain happy. Witchwarper being int now is ok I think...they just gotta sell the lore of them tapping into and investigating the mysteries of the universe
Or the narrative of just how much random info you pick up while ping-ponging around causality. They feel like a class that would be pretty friendly to random lore skills.

I think it's to help them out with being the primary melee striker, yeah. I'm wondering if their abilities will still key off of charisma or not to make them have similar spreads to champions.
I'm hoping not, to be honest. It always felt like I was giving up too much if I wanted to make a lightly armored solarian in SF1E because I also needed charisma, and it was easier to just take Heavy Armor Prof.
A charisma-focused solarian would be an awesome space for a class archetype though.
