Which ancestries and versatile heritages are freely available without a Boon?
My players want to know what their options are for their first characters, and I remember there were some new exceptions added in, but I can't seem to find them now.

Guide -> Character creation -> select ancestry
3. Select an Ancestry
Ancestry follows the normal rules PC pg. 41, CRB pg. 33Player Core page 41
Core Rulebook page 33
(click to close) with minor modifications to adapt to the languages of Golarion. In addition to the common ancestries in the Player Core, characters also have access to the following ancestries provide the player owns the corresponding book:Kobold (from the Advanced Player's Guide )
Ratfolk (from the Advanced Player's Guide )
Tengu (from the Advanced Player's Guide )Note the Leshy and Orc ancestries are now common ancestries in the Player Core and remain available. The Nephilim (formerly Aasimar and Tiefling) and Changeling versatile heritages are also now common and remain available.
In addition, everybody starts out with 80 achievement points, which should be enough for any single uncommon ancestry or uncommon versatile heritage AFAIK, although since they are single-use boons and you don't want to risk the character dying and losing the boon, it's best to keep 40 acp saved up for the Second Chance (resurrection) boon.
If you want to keep 40acp saved for resurrection, the following ancestry boons cost only 40 acp:lizardfolk
fetchling
Kitsune
Players also gain 80 Starfinder AcP, which is separate from 2e acp, and you can use that to buy System Traveler: Android, which allows you to play an android in 2e without spending any 2e achievement points.

...
That's odd. My Player Core pdf shows both Changeling and Nephilim as uncommon.

That seems to be an error in the guide - the actual book And the Character options page confirm that they are, indeed, uncommon. However, the character options page gives all characters access to nephilim and changeling:
All Pathfinder agents have access to the following Uncommon options:
Ancestries and Heritages: changeling and nephilim versatile heritages (pages 76-79).

Is that how the System Traveler boons work? I always wondered what those were aboutA
Damn. I wish I knew that before I blew a bunch of AP on my android a short while back. I'm not really using my Starfinder AP much these days.
Maybe Paizo will let me swap the boons.

Even the rules on that page aren't consistent. For example, in the APG section of the character options page we have the following two sections of text.
Due to years of successful Pathfinder Society activities, all characters have access to the kobold ancestry (page 12), orc ancestry (page 17), ratfolk ancestry (page 20) and tengu ancestry (page 24), as well as the changeling versatile heritage (page 30), aasimar versatile heritage (page 35) and tiefling versatile heritage (page 39).
but also
All ancestry and versatile heritage options, other than kobolds, are of standard availability. As the catfolk, orc, ratfolk, and tengu ancestries and the aasimar, changeling, dhampir, duskwalker, and tiefling versatile heritages are uncommon, this means they are limited to boon access through Chronicle Sheets or the Achievement Point system.
So it would appear that Orc, Ratfolk, Tengu, Changeling, Aasimar, and Tiefling simultaneously both require a boon and don't require a boon.

Character Options says the following about Player Core:
"All options are of standard availability unless specifically noted otherwise."
Dromaar do not have a listed rarity adjustment and are common, so are available. There's no reason or need for them to be specifically listed any more than saying fighter is an available class.
There is one mention of them on the character options page.
The “aiuvarin” and “half-elf” traits are considered interchangeable; half-elf characters have access to aiuvarin options and vice versa. The same applies for dromaar and half-orc characters. The nephilim trait is interchangeable with either the aasimar or tiefling trait and vice versa, but aasimar characters may not treat that trait as interchangeable with the tiefling trait (or vice versa).
Meaning you can still pick old half-orc options even if they aren't reprinted etc, and you have a non-remastered half-orc they can pick dromaar options etc.
