Hi y'all, Id like to build a sprite rogue who is tiny and doesn't use any magic whatsoever. Im mostly using her for utility and such but ive heard making a character who isn't capable of doing combat is kind of a jerk move, so please help me come up with something that isn't going to ruin other people's time in combat. Im taking ephemeral wings so i dont have to be on another creature and my strength score is very much going to bring a penalty, not a bonus.
We're starting around level 3-5 and any guidance would really help. I dont need to be powerful, just not a waste of space. Id love to lean ranged ideally, but i understand daggers are probably one of the better options I have.

Size doesn't have a penalty for ranged weapon attacks like bows. So Sprite Rogue with shortbow should work in combat about as well as any other shortbow Rogue would. The only difficulty is getting enemies off-guard. So things like Dread Striker for frightened enemies or attacking enemies that an ally has Tripped or Grappled would be ideal.
Reach weapons also work. They shorten to 5 foot melee range - but that is what other small and medium sized characters have too. Whip has finesse. Though it also has nonlethal, but that isn't a complete deal-breaker most of the time.
And finally, many enemies don't have Reactive Strike, so they may not actually be able to punish you for just running up into their space and stabbing them in the shin. And for the ones that do have Reactive Strike, you can counter that with the Rogue feat Mobility.

Because of your reach penalty and your desire to be low strength (you can have max strength if you want but that may not be the character vibe you are after) My recommendation would be to take a reach weapon like a Bladed Scarf
That way you can provide flanking for your allies and you don't have to enter your enemies square to attack them. Thief racket is strongly recommended.
If you want to attack at range a short bow works fine. But getting your sneak attack in is difficult so something like points into charisma and maximise your Intimidation skill so you can Demoralise your opponents. Then take the Dread Striker feat level 4. I'd still be going Thief Racket because you can do everything I suggested, but Mastermind can work for ranged if you invest in it.
