Vigilante Warlock Mystic Bolts and Startoss Style

Rules Questions

Startoss Style (Combat, Style)
Your thrown weapons become more deadly.

Prerequisite(s): Dex 13, Point-Blank Shot, Weapon Focus with the chosen weapon.

Benefit(s): Choose one weapon from the thrown fighter weapon group. While using this style and the chosen weapon, you gain a bonus on damage rolls made with the weapon equal to 2 + 2 per style feat you possess that lists Startoss Style as a prerequisite (maximum +6 damage).

You cannot use this ability if you are carrying a weapon or a shield in your off hand (except for a buckler).

Special: In addition to the chosen weapon, a character with this feat and the weapon training (thrown) class feature can use Startoss Style with any thrown weapons that she wields in one hand.

Doeas that mean that if i have "weapon training (thrown)" class feature i can use Startoss Style on Mystic Bolts even if isn't in the list of the thrown weapons since it say "can use Startoss Style with any thrown weapons that she wields in one hand"?

Mystic Bolt is not a thrown weapon, as nothing in the description says it is. Indeed, it is described as "shooting a bolt".

Creating a mystic bolt requires the hand to be free, but the bolt appears only briefly, so a warlock using mystic bolts has a free hand any time she isn’t attacking with a mystic bolt. The warlock threatens with a mystic bolt, but only if she has a hand free. Because mystic bolts are impermanent, a spell that targets a single weapon (like magic weapon) can’t affect it, nor can a mystic bolt be made with magic weapon special abilities. Abilities that affect all weapon attacks the warlock makes, such as the arcane striker warlock talent, function with mystic bolts.

The fact that a mystic bolt leaves the hands free supports the fact they are not thrown weapons.

while you can not pick mystic bolts for this feat's initial weapon. a character with the fighter training (thrown) should be able to use this feat for it:

" The warlock vigilante attacks with mystic bolts as though they were light one-handed weapons, and the bolts can be used for two-weapon fighting (with each hand creating one mystic bolt) and feats and abilities that apply to weapon attacks (unless they’re excluded from that feat, such as with Power Attack). "

the restriction for the off hand might still apply though.

A hand crossbow is also a one-handed weapon that can be used with two weapon fighting. Even a light crossbow or pistol can be used with two weapon fighting. None of those can be used with startoss style because they are not thrown weapon. Unless the weapon is a thrown weapon startoss style does not work with it. Mythic Bolts are not thrown weapons.

hmm. it is ranged, and can use feats that apply to weapons.
but you are right. it is not thrown. it doesn't use str to damage nor does it have range increments (it has a max range of 30 ft and that's it).

if star toss said it can be used with any ranged weapon then it should have been fine.
