Evolutionist + Double Tap

General Discussion

If you have a ranged specked Evolution your adaptive strike classes as small arms.

With that in mind, how would it interact with double tap.

A. You add +1 to hit and and 1/2 level damage

B. You only add the +1 to hit

C. It simply does not work together at all

D. Something else

Well first, it's not C. The adaptive Strike is a small arm, so it works with double tap, and if you're evolutionist level 3 or above you've got weapon specialization in it. Further, there's no reason why you wouldn't get the +1 to hit.

I can't speak to how rules mods that modify the standard weapon specialization bonus to damage would stack, though. Your'e goign to need someone else for that one.

B, imho. You still get the bonus to hit, but the damage buff wouldn't stack with the already-equal-or-superior weapon specialization damage you get from being an Evolutionist.

Yeah that’s what my GM decided on the end. I figured it would stack a bit like crit multipliers in d20

yeah B I think. Because Double Tap states
"and your bonus to damage from Weapon Specialization is equal to your character level (rather than half your character level)"
it doesn't actually add 1/2 level, it just changes the base. Which the base is already that way. Both are replacements, not additive

Weirdly enough with how it is written if the Evoluntionist ability (I haven't read) says "add 1/2 level to the damage done with small arms" and isn't worded similarly it would add that way. But that's neither here nor there as I believe it just treats it as a small arm under normal small arm rules
