speaking about archetyping, i feel like kineticst would gain an "inappropriate" (compared to other classes) amount of power in a FA vs non-FA game, which may muddle the waters a bit in actual power value of the class.

I don't know about that actually. The kineticist is sort of in an isolated mechanical bubble where archetypes don't really make its job easier.

Elemental barbarian with the soul forger archetype may not be able to wield a weapon entirely of their element all of the time, but they can do if once per day and use an elemental infused weapon the rest of the time.

Otherwise, yeah, you can just play a kineticist for this. Not every class can do every thing.

there are a lot of "passive" archetypes that kineticist directly benefits from.

from stuff like rogue to gain flat-footed easily, mobility, and skills to sentinel, champion and bastion for defences/reactions, medic and blessed for enhanced support and etc

it is a class that's hard pressed to find "open" class feats to fit an archetype, and so FA gives more of a boost compared to most classes that can usually sacrifice levels here and there to grab said feats without much impact on the main class chassis.

The class is convenient in that every feat opportunity has something worthwhile but I wouldn't say it gains inappropriate benefits from FA because of that. Those passive archetypes are just as good for other classes that might want them

That was my point: the archetypes are the same, yes, what i mean the opportunity to grab them comes at a much higher cost for a kineticist compared to most other classes.

which means that while most other classes in a non-FA game can get them with small sacrifices, in a non-FA game the kineticist will have to make much bigger sacrifices to get them.

hence, FA vs non-FA for a kineticist is a much bigger differenece compared to FA vs non-FA for other classes. Ergo, the kineticist gains more in an FA game compared to most other classes.

Ah, that makes sense. Depends on the build too. Dual gate and forking builds would be the most difficult to fit archetypes in while dedicated fire or metal are probably happy with their first level impulses for a while.
