What is legal for a charity boon character?

Scarab Sages

I received a charity race boon for a drow from my spouse, but the Additional Resources says nothing from the drow section of the Advanced Race Guide is legal. Same for Monster Codex.

The boon lists a bunch of books and says I have to have one of them to play the character, but it doesnt say it gives me access to anything in those books. Like alternate racial traits or favored class bonuses or anything else.

The books listed are Monster Codex 30, Advanced Race Guide 102, Inner Sea Races 241, Blood of Shadows, and Wilderness Origins 8

Could someone assist, or update these books on the additional resources?

Could anyone help with who to contact about this?

I would have expected the boon to state which options are legal for you and which are not - for example:
Kobolds boon says

Quote:
"Treat all kobold specific character options in the ARG, ISR, and Kobolds of Golarion as legal except icy mementos, lair snake, lightning blessed, ooze defense, and the spell blightburn weapon and the item blightburn paste."

(but as mentioned in the thread I linked to, another boon about kobolds doesn't say that list).

One of the Campaign Leadership people would probably need to weight in on this, although I don't think Mike Kimmel is supposed to be on that list any more. You can reach Alex Speidel through pfsreportingerrors@paizo.com

Bump?

Really need to know if the page references are for the entire sections that they start, or just... random?

I'd just build the character with the assumption that the options are legal, explaining the unclear state of the boon to the GM at the start of the table. Unfortunately, it's up to table variation until there's an official answer, so better prepare with bringing another, legal character as a backup.

That being said, since the boon lists a lot of books and not just the one with the stats for drow, I think the intention is for you to be able to access drow related options from those books. That's just my guess, though, so... Expect Table Variation.

I assume this is for 1e.

The boon, listing the books that references the race make options legal. First edition works different from second edition for what is legal or not.

If memory serves, if from gencon, this boon raised a lot of money!

I don't know if drow was opened for all charity events.

Yes, for 1e.

Tomppa, the boon just says "You may play a drow character (Monster Codex 30, Advanced Race Guide 102, Inner Sea Races 241, Blood of Shadows, and Wilderness Origins 8). So I generally think you're right, but also expected something more specific, like you quoted for kobolds.

Another Drow boon holder here, just want to point out that the list given on the race boon chronicle are quite specific. For example, page 8 of Wilderness Origins only have the Drow's Favored Class Bonus for Shifter. I will interpret it as entire book of Blood of Shadows are good as well.

It's very unfortunate that many interesting/fundamental Drow option are still illegal, such as Cleric/Fighter/Rogue/Sorcerer/Wizard FCB.

I don't believe that is the intent for all of them. For instance "Monster Codex 30" is the chapter header picture and journal entry. There's no rules there at all. Probably right about Wilderness Origins 8 of course.

I won the Wyrwood charity boon back in 2017 and had to do some message exchanges with John Compton to determine what was legal and how it would work in org play. For your Drow I'd recomend talking to Alex Speidel about it.
