Help me get over my super niche idea I'm stuck on

So in 2019 I made thread about idea I really liked and that I would be able to do the idea if paizo would introduce just one new spell of specific type.

Yeah three years later and I'm still stuck on "stellifera witchwarper that warps reality around them so they don't need to use hydrobody" idea :'D I never built a witchwarper or stellifera x'D

I do know that waiting to build a stellifera witchwarper only after they make water equivalent of "floor is lava!" type spell is silly(perfectly witchwarpery flavor wise though and wouldn't be too unbalanced considering fly spells!). We get new player options in slow enough pace that I feel like "oh maybe if witchwarper/swim speed/aquatic species themed options would get another focus book besides one underwater spell article in AP, I would get option that I want for flavor I'm going for!" :'D Like I feel like I'm living in false hope and that if new options were released more often, it'd be easier to give up on the specific idea because I'd get new witchwarper idea or that I would get option that would be "eh close enough" xD

(normally I build characters based on options I've been granted by books, this is only time I've gotten inspiration for really specific idea I've wanted to build that wasn't supported mechanically yet x'D)

Right now, whenever I entertain idea of building witchwarper? My brain is like "but that one idea I want to do" and then I lose enthusiasm for witchwarper and do other class instead x'D At this rate my original idea can't live up to build up in my head for it

Wouldn't "Infinite worlds" class feature largely accomplish what you seek?

Once you get 2nd level spells you can affect 2 10' radius areas of the map, and Enduring Worlds spell will help duration issues. it may not be perfect to your idea, but it seems like it would mostly meet your goal.

I myself Like the idea of a Stellifera Witchwarper with the Infinity Lash feature - For flavor instead of forming the lash with magical energy I just picture it extending its hydrobody.

I mean, mechanics wise infinite world just creates difficult terrain, it doesn't allow you to move with swim speed or avoid suffocating as aquatic creature ^^; Flavorwise it could be perfect if mechanics allowed filling mechanical part of flavor I'm looking for

Seeing how the feature can affect any combination of movement types, I don't think it'd be unreasonable to ask if you could use a normal swim speed while subject land speeds to the difficult terrain - it is harder walking through water, but ultimately it would be up to your GM, though as you said it'd hardly be unbalanced.

As for the "suffocation" the level 2 version deals damage (so a Level 3 spell slot for both effects), unfortunately RAW would mean you'd suffocate swimming in the water, so more GM approval to work in the desired way would be required (again I personally don't see it as unreasonable, but it's also not my call).

The name of the game is fun, so as long as balance remains intact...

Also never mind the creating 2 10' radius of water, as I forgot the effects need to have the same originating point, which admittedly is a bit underwhelming.

I'd recommend introducing an item equivalent to the hover-chairs, that allows them to focus their witchwarping into a persistant stable 'infinite worlds' effect that ongoingly rewrites reality into providing you a water environment as breathable to you as the air would be for an unaquatic species.

Sidenote, house ruling is fine and all, but would still make idea unavailable in society games, this is relevant mostly because I get to rather rarely play in campaigns :'D Still cool ideas :3 Though admittedly more of encouraging me to make this character rather than get over the idea xD

Particulars of Society play notwithstanding.

Considering that a majority of the framework required is already available (just more limited in scope than desired) for your idea I see no reason why you should abandon the character YOU WANT to play. Really I see the biggest thing holding you back from achieving this goal is GM Approval (Which the ability even lists it being subject to), sure the movement speed you would gain may be a bit outside of RAW, but the penalties for being outside the Hydrobody (which can effortlessly be maintained indefinitely once formed) shift the balance of your desired results well out of your favor anyway.

Perhaps the next book will add a paradigm shift that helps further your idea to completion.

Seconding the hovercraft reflavor

Wouldn't life bubble take care of the hydrobody thing?

At that point aren't you really just modifying how Hydrobody works, while "functionally superior" to utilizing the infinite worlds ability, it really loses the flavor of the character the OP is looking for IMO.

Life Bubble is pretty much just a more limited version of Hydrobody, and would keep the biggest penalty(movement speed) intact.

The character is just flat impossible without houseruling/homebrew.

Not sure how doing the flavour of 'use infinite worlds to persistantly rewrite reality around me into being underwater', is losing the flavour of 'use infinite worlds to persistantly rewrite reality around me into being underwater'.

That was in reference when compared to minimalistic alterations to RAW wherein an item like the Hover chair making Infinite Worlds permanent and mobile has more in common with a modified Hydrobody than it does utilizing Infinite Worlds, which is why flavor-wise it misses the mark (to me anyway).

Agreed, but at least in home games homebrewing is possible ^^; In society not until they make it possible without homebrewing
