So, this one's been around for a while, but -
Monks get the Abundant Step ki spell via a feat at level 6. The spell is listed as level 4.
Per the rules on focus spells, "You can’t cast a focus spell if its minimum level is greater than half your level rounded up, even if you somehow gain access to it."
Am I correct to read this as the feat gives you a spell you can't cast until you level up again?

My guess is someone looked at the focus spell separate than the feat and realized a 30ft+ one action teleport spell was a fourth level spell, not a third. And the focus spell level not being tied to the feat in writing directly would have slid right past an editor.

Yeah, I am thinking something along the same lines as far as editing and proofreading goes.
And yes, as currently written you can put the feat in the level 6 class feat slot - either immediately when you reach level 6 or through retraining later - but you can't cast the spell until level 7. You do still get and can use the extra focus point at level 6 though.

That is how it appears in the archives of Nethys. I haven’t checked my physical book though. Weirdly, retraining into it as a 6th feat at 8th level would still work just fine.
I checked my book and the spell is really a lvl 4 focus spell that came from a lvl 6 feat.
IMO this probably an unnoticed mistake. I don't really know but probably the feat lvl requirement is wrong. Probably the feat had to be lvl 8 because the most closely spell to it is the Dimension Door that works way similar but it's 2-actions and have a longer range.
