Hi all,
I have a battledancer swashbuckler close to leveling to 10. I'm having a hard time understanding what Derring Do applies to.
I understand that it applies to Tumble Through and Performance checks when I use Fascinating Performance. I assume it applies to Performance checks when I use Leading Dance too (although I'm not even sure this is true). What I'm wondering is does it apply to any Performance check I make? The parenthetical "...any skill actions listed in your swashbuckler's style" makes me wonder.
I guess what I'm wondering is what is the range of actions Derring Do applies to.
Thanks for your help.

It can be used on "any actions that give you panache due to your style".
So, for example, a Swashbuckler (Wit) would "gain panache during an encounter whenever you succeed at a Bon Mot". Normally, a Wit Swashbuckler with Panache gets a +1 on their Diplomacy checks to Bon Mot; with Derring Do, they would roll twice and take the better result.

While you have panache, you gain a +5-foot status bonus to your Speeds and gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks to Tumble Through or to take any actions that give you panache due to your style.
You gain panache during an encounter when the result of your Performance check to Perform exceeds the Will DC of an observing foe, even if the foe isn't fascinated.
From my reading a Battledancer would get Derring-Do on Tumble Through and Perform. So not all performance checks but only those that specifically says Perform.

Panache says the circumstance bonus applies "to checks to tumble through or to take any actions that give you panache due to your style." For you as a battledancer, the perform action from the performance skill (which fascinating performance modifies) and leading dance, which is also a performance check, both qualify. When you have panache and perform one of those actions, Derring-do allows you to roll twice on the check and take the higher result

Yeah, there is a bit of a chain of rules that have to be followed by jumping from one rule to the next.
When you already have panache, you can roll twice and use the higher result on checks to which the circumstance bonus for having panache applies
Which the helpfully give the example of "Tumble Through and any skill actions listed in your swashbuckler's style". Which may not be entirely complete, but it is generally good enough.
"checks to which the circumstance bonus for having panache applies" is defined here:
While you have panache, you gain a +5-foot status bonus to your Speeds and gain a +1 circumstance bonus to checks to Tumble Through or to take any actions that give you panache due to your style.
"actions that give you panache" is also defined earlier in the same section"
You gain panache by successfully performing the skill check associated with specific actions that have a bit of flair, including Tumble Through and additional actions determined by your swashbuckler's style. At the GM's discretion, after succeeding at a check to perform a particularly daring action, such as swinging on a chandelier or sliding down a drapery, you also gain panache if your result is high enough
So I think a good way of thinking about it is, "if succeeding at the skill check for this action would give panache, then it qualifies for Derring-Do if you already have panache."
For Battledancer specifically, Leading Dance has a line in the rules that adds itself to the list of actions that give panache, and I would rule that it therefore qualifies to benefit from Derring-Do.
