Strange Aeons - Request

Recruitment

Hi my fellow RPGers!

I'm posting it here as a "request" of sorts... For a Strange Aeons AP! I'd love to play it, and in full disclosure I GMed it before (first two books only). I'd really like to find a good, solid group to play with, and a charitable soul willing to GM for us :)

Whoever GM is free to dictate whatever rules they want us to follow and I'll adapt to it. I'd prefer sticking with Paizo-only materials, as these are the books I have, but again... Anything goes for me as long as I get the chance to play it! Gestalt, Elephant in the Room, PFS-style restrictive rules, anything goes. If I was allowed to choose, I'd go for something that is neither too absurdly weak (like 15-point-buy, core book only stuff...) or too busted (tristalt, Godling classes, etc.).

Anyway... Any takers? I can help with organizing, recruiting, keeping track of loot/HP/etc., all of it, if needed.

Cheerios and have a great weekend!

I'll bump this cause I love the AP. I'm not sure I'm ready to start another run yet though.

Thanks Delmoth! Yes, I loved it too, and wanted to experience it from the player’s seat now :) if you decide to give it another run as a host, just let me know - I’ll do what I can to help from my side. Otherwise, hoping another generous GM appears with the appetite for some craaaaziness :D

No bites? No takers? :)

Hey Lapyd, if you're really that desperate, offer to run an AP for the person who runs this game for you.

Yeah I’ve been debating running a game in the forums. But I’d rather run one of my homebrews. Point is, I’ve been running in person for years so there’s some burnout going on with hosting.

Strange Aeons is imo a cool AP but it doesn't seem very popular. Only two tables on these forums got past book 3 and of those only one looks like it might actually finish the AP. Finishing APs via PbP is really uncommon, there's only a handful of finished table here.

I got into book 3 on my table but my players didn't really like the research aspects and lost interest in the AP. I'm kinda sad about that I thought it was all really flavourful. One thing I probably should have done is skip a bunch of encounters and merge some others for pacing, ah well you live and learn. And no I'm not planning to run Strange Aeons again, got my eyes on another AP later in the year.

Anyway good luck getting a spot.

I am fortunate to be a part of that SA game, Fangdragon.

I have been extremely fortunate in my DMs!

Huh I completely missed that game Dorian, turns out there's another long running SA game I wasn't aware of. Still overall SA is one of the least played APs which IMO is a shame.

Lol, I even heavily implied. It's fine I don't know if I could stand a bunch of people scrutinizing my games.

I'm still mulling it over. It depends on if my wife wants to do IRL gaming again.

Silver Crusade

Interested as a player. Over 2 years of PbP experience.

I... uh... Yeah, if a game sprouts, I might give it a try as a player. In the long run, it seems GMs have an easier time keeping up with a written campaign than with homebrew stuff.

I started SA years ago as a player, but unfortunately it the GM had to step down pretty soon into it. I enjoyed where it was going, and would love to try again. I play a lot more 5e than PF1, so I wouldn't want to GM the SA game. But I'd happily run a 5e game in swap.

There's no reason SA needs to be on Golarion either. Just a handful of name swaps and it could be in Forgotten Realms or any other fairly standard fantasy setting.

Angie is a great DM btw.

If this gets traction, and assuming there are slots free, I would like to join in as a player. I never did a run of this AP (GM or player), and I hear good things about it.

If it is a requirement, I am able to run a game in exchange. PF1 or 2E.

I am currently in 2 round robin back to back series of society scenarios here on the boards, but I will have time to run once those are done. Should take 2-4 months to finish.

I don't want to sound impolite, but... I would gladly apply to that potential 5e game and leave a spot in the SA one for others with high interest.

You know, mutual benefit :p And I'm also more into 5e lately, which is starting to make my PF-fu a bit rusty.

I *might* be interested in running this.

Yay! That would be great, Elton! Please count with my help.

I'll have to buy it first. That won't happen until the 30th (or tomorrow, just have to wait and see).

Looks like you start out with first level characters. I'll set up an interest check, to see who bites. Looks like it's Lovecraftian mythos. So, does it come with a players' guide?

It does. It does. Having run this feel free to pick my brain.

It does come with a player guide, like Delmoth said, free to download as a PDF at the Paizo site.
