Starlit span alternative conflux spell

Thinking of a conflux spell to support a gun wielding magus.

Starlit reload: 1 action. You reload an empty firearm or crossbow and you choose 1 target. Until the end of your next turn, your next strike against the target gains a +2 status bonus to its attack roll.

This would replace the normal conflux spell. It'll help sustain the gun magus and give some extra oomph to it as long as it has focus points. Is it too much though even for loaded weapons?

As far as balance goes, it is probably fine. It really isn't on-theme though.

Balance: It has some action economy boosting that most 1st level conflux spells do. The +2 bonus is a bit better than the +1 bonus from things like Guidance or Inspire Courage, but it is limited in that it only applies to the one target.

Theme: The other Hybrid Study granted spells all involve doing something in addition to a Strike. Which actually may affect the balance part of things too. Using the conflux spell to recharge spellstrike as your first action means that the spellstrike made that same turn will have 1st stage MAP.

So maybe something along the lines of being able to fire the empty crossbow/firearm. Perhaps with an energy damage type to target weaknesses, or maybe just with a bonus to the attack roll. I haven't fully looked into what Magus already has available or how much of that would be treading through the Gunslinger's standard abilities and feats.

Yeah it is different from the rest in that it doesn't include a strike. I thought about it being reload + strike but because of the action economy of the class, you would prefer to not make that strike in order to save the bullet for spellstrike. Striking with an empty gun + reload is interesting. I like the accuracy bonus thing though. Should it instead be a class feat?

I do think that it goes against the theme and purpose of conflux spells as this does double down on making a big spellstrike when they are supposed to be more about having a powerful off-turn.

Makes sense. It's just that shooting star is upsetting to use with loaded weapons. I'll do a class feat. 2nd or 4th I'm thinking.
