Race? Humans' Bonus Feat is nice, it allows you to squeeze in Arcane Strike (more on that later). But a Shaman's Apprentice Half-Orc with Sacred Tattoos and Fate's Favored starts with Darkvision, the Endurance feat, and a +2 luck bonus on all saves. Halflings for their Helpful trait, but anyone can just take the Adopted trait for it. Small races have the same reach with a Longspear. Lol.
Archetype? Arcane Duelist is my jam. And it gives you Arcane Strike for "free". The bonus feats, armor proficiencies, and overall flow of the archetype please me.

Items? +1 Impervious Whipwood Longspear, Banner of Ancient Kings, Dervish Sikke, Ring of Spell Knowledge IV and/or a minor Ring of Spell Storing (I like to combine the two into one ring for like ~56000gp), a Ring of Sustenance is nice, too.
If you have Arcane Strike, add the Gloves of Arcane Striking to the list of items. It adds your Arcane Strike bonus to Aid Another, which applies to Bodyguard. They also turn your longspear into a splash weapon, of sorts. Fun stuff.
A Ring of Spell Knowledge IV can give you a 3rd-level spell not on your list, or a 4th-level spell from your list. Combined with the 4th-and-5th-level spells from Expanded Arcana, and you have greatly bolstered your midrange... spells known at level 20 looks like 6,6,6,7,7,6,5 instead of 6,6,6,6,6,5,5... if that makes any sense. I guess it could also be 6,6,6,6,7,7,5 if you had a 4th-level Bard spell in the ring and took two 5th-level spells with Expanded Arcana... regardless, it's good either way.

I like Memorable, because it's like a mini Lingering Performance.
Reactionary or Paragon of Speed for the Initiative bonus.
Maestro of Society isn't bad, either... especially if you drop Extra Performance/Master Performer/Grand Master Performer out of your feats for any reason. Probably not necessary if you have Extra Performance as a prerequisite for other planned feats, though.
