Multiple weapon damage die increases?

I looked around the books for an answer to this but I couldn't find anything. Nevertheless I wanted to double check to see if there was some rule I was missing that disallowed this:

Is is possible to increase the damage die of a weapon multiple times? For example, let's say I play a Gunslinger with a Hand Crossbow and take Crossbow Crack Shot. So when I reload my hand crossbow (a simple weapon) jumps a damage die to a d8 the round I reload it. Then, at some level I take Inventor Dedication and at level 8 I take Basic Modification to make my hand crossbow (Still a simple weapon) have Complex simplicity so now it always deal a d8 damage, and it jumps to a d10 if I reload and then fire it in the same round?

Or is there some rule I'm not seeing that says something like "You can only ever increase the damage die of a weapon one step" or something like that?

No, you can't increase your weapon's damage die more than once.

When an effect calls on you to increase the size of your weapon damage dice, instead of using its normal weapon damage dice, use the next larger die, as listed below (so if you were using a d4, you’d use a d6, and so on). If you are already using a d12, the size is already at its maximum. You can’t increase your weapon damage die size more than once.

Ah, I thought that might be the case but I couldn't find where it specifically said that. Thanks.

Oh well, I guess my dreams of a gunslinger firing off a d10 hand crossbow go up in smoke . . .
