There is some general rule about what formula level you can learn right?

Thing I'm bit confused about is that inventor's gadget feats don't say aloud up to what level formula you will learn when you take the feat, so I assume there has to be some general rule I'm forgetting about? Like it'd be silly if I could take level 19 gadget at earlier levels and create them every day as freebies

You can learn formulas of any level. The limiting facor is mostly gold.

That being said, the Inventor feat has been reportet in the GnG Errata thread. It's most likely missing some form of level restriction.

I think CorvusMask is talking about the Gadget Specialist feat. And yeah, it should probably be limited by your class level - like all of the other automatically learned formulas are for all of the other classes. Both for learning the formulas and for creating the items.

As for learning formulas in general, no there isn't a fixed limit. You can learn any formula you want. You just aren't able to craft anything that is higher than your level using the crafting skill.

It does kinda sound weird though since while "you can't craft item higher than your level" rules apply here, you would still save lot of money if you decide to learn gadget formula you can't use for long while ._.

(but yeah I was talking about gadget specialist feat)

It wouldn't really save you much money. Formulas aren't really expensive for their level. So the cost saving of having 3 extra 7th level Gadget formulas would be 54 GP (don't spend it all in one place ... I dare you). But you would have to buy usable Gadget formulas for your lower level adventuring days if you want to use the feat, so that would cost you something.

Horizon Hunters

Gadget Specialist seems to follow the same rules as Advanced Alchemy: You Craft them, per the crafting rules, but you don't make a roll, spend any money/resources, they are completed immediately, and they expire after 24 hours. Even if you know a higher level formula, you would be unable to Craft it if it were above your level.
