Cori has genuinely been one of the cornerstones of the community response in my mind, and I am so glad to have her here.

Which of their demands are “ludicrous”? The hiring of a diversity officer. Ah good, glad to see that you named a demand that was not one of the demands of the union, but rather one of the demands made by the freelancers who have stopped work. Since the announcement of the union, that demand is gone, replaced with just recognizing the union to get the work stoppage ended. You may want to check the last paragraph of the summary tab.

Yawar, are you listening or just trying to be right?
As that tab says and as Cori told you, that was one of the demands of the freelancers.
Quite apart from the fact it was never a union demand as you claimed, it has since been altered to just 'recognise the union'.

The Article wrote: Beginning September 16th, a united bloc of approximately 40 Paizo freelance writers, game designers, and adventure authors announced to management they would be refusing new contracts and in some cases withholding current work until improvements were made for employees. Demands included Paizo fill an HR position that was allowed to sit vacant and leave Paizo without HR for months; that non-warehouse staff be permitted to continue working from home during the pandemic, and that all non-warehouse staff are afforded the option to work remotely from outside Washington if they choose; that Paizo be fully transparent about all salary information; and that Paizo bring a full-time diversity consultant onto staff. Yeah. This is the freelancers.

Thanks, arrived there from a link at the Union Paizo website, didn't realized it was a separate movement/ faction. I really should not post from my cellphone before before sleeping.
Humbly,
Yawar

goes back and forth between both threads
Uh...are we repeating ourselves here? Or am I a bit drunk at the moment. I could have sworn some of the things said in one are repeated word for word in the other?

Repetition is a clue. Nothing involved in the cause of the two identical conversations was in good faith, though many good faith posters went to the effort of educating twice regardless.
Humble bait.

I'm glad it happened so quickly, and I am glad to keep my subs as the Union gets to work to make Paizo a better workplace.
Welp, time to put our money where our mouth was, everyone.
This household is still on 1st ed, but I'm looking through me and my spouse's accounts now to figure out which digital APs we haven't bought yet, so we can buy even more. They'll get played in a few years, once we're done with our, uh... THREE current groups, I'm sure.

I’m buying every single volume of Strength of Thousands, and also grabbing my own copy of G&G. I still agree with this, but the latest news is a huge step for me.

Perhaps, but there is still a lot of us who never put much weight to Paizo acknowledging the union, a step that was virtually inevitable given the near unanimous support of the staff. Now, the real work begins. I will continue as I have from the start of all this in that I will return to my purchasing ways if/when Paizo demonstrates a change in their practices. All of this is still just talk. I am happy for the union and their progress to date, but I am not yet satisfied.

To be clear, I was addressing everyone who did make promises contingent on voluntarily recognition.

Thomas Keller wrote: How would they demonstrate change to your satisfaction? Not trying to be argumentative, genuinely curious. Perfectly reasonable question, and I honestly cannot give you a precise answer. Just like it took them a long time to convince me of their persistent bad behavior, it is going to be a while before they prove a change in that behavior. There isn't one specific thing they can do. Its why I have not made any specific demands. Since the problems exist over such a wide spectrum, it would be foolish, IMO, to ask for a singular improvement and think that would extend to all areas.
To some extent it will be the lack of complaints by employees that will go so show some level of improvement, but since it is had to prove a negative, I'll be looking for more. I expect that as the two groups negotiate specific terms, we will hear about them. Adherence to those terms will demonstrate some level of change.
Trust is not usually a matter of balance. It is easy to establish, assuming you don't have a hyper pessimistic outlook, even easier to lose, and incredibly difficult to regain. YMMV
