Can you use I Meant To Do That (G&G 143) with a non-gun ranged weapon? The requirement only says I need to have made a ranged weapon Strike, but the rest of the body text references "bullets."

Could I use this feat with a thrown dagger? An arrow? A sling (which also uses "bullets")?

It looked to me like the whole Unexpected Sharpshooter archetype was designed to work with or without guns, but this feat and the Chain Reaction feat (which explicitly calls out guns) gave me pause.

It's not on archivesofnethys, yet.

Can you quote it?

Side note: I imagine that "sling bullets" are as distinct from "bullets" as much as a "bo staff" is distinct from a "staff", although it is a distinction better recognized when using the SRD hyperlinks rather than reading an actual book.

It'd agree that it seems like it is meant to be any ranged weapon but, like several places in the book, it's flavor seems to be solidly gun and bullets.

Nefreet:
"Requirements Your previous action was a ranged weapon Strike that missed a foe within 60 feet.
Somehow your stray bullet causes an unintended reaction that creates a problem for your enemy: perhaps a ricochet knocks your foe’s weapon away or they stumble over stray debris in an attempt to dodge your bullets."[additional rules afterwards that happen after the requirement, a skill roll for a maneuver]

EDIT: Wrote my post, but got distracted and hit send hours later, so I'm a post or two behind what I intended.

If we're not to street date yet, I'm not too comfortable with doing that.

I don't think a partial quote would be terribly helpful either.

I've got a similar question on Alchemical Shot [4th level gunslinger feat: in Requirements are "wielding a firearm or crossbow" but when it describes it, it says things like "Next, Strike with your firearm" and "and the firearm misfires." So is the requirements right and the body of the feat misleading?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

*facepalm*

And I was finally beginning to enjoy the uptick in editing quality.
