Potential Feats

Homebrew and House Rules

So I had an idea for a feat and ws wondering if it is balanced.

sword catch (level 12 fighter, reaction)
Required: you have a free hands
Trigger: any enemy critically fails an attack with a melee weapon against you
Effect: you wrest the weapon out of your enemies hand and can equip it as a free action if you have enough hands to wield it

It seems an overpowered version of the swashbuckler

Opportune Riposte

Quote:
You take advantage of an opening from your enemy's fumbled attack. You either make a melee Strike against the triggering foe or attempt to Disarm it of the weapon it used for the Strike.

- It doesn't require any skill ( you could be legendary athletics or untrained ).

- It doesn't require a check ( it's automatic, while opportune riposte requires a "critical success", because of how disarm works ).

- Allows the user to also grab the weapon ( action given for free, probably making useless the enemy which was using it ).

I'd say it's way better ( and balanced ) for the fighter to take the swashbuckler dedication and the opportune riposte feat.
