Ways to build a Halfling Living Grimoire.

I am fairly new to Pathfinder 1E. Haven't played in close to a decade and am getting back into it. There is so much more content out now than there was way back when. Anyway. I love the idea of a halfling beating fools in the face with a giant religious tome. Naturally, there are drawbacks to such a build, namely the tome being 1D4 in the hands of a Halfling instead of 1D6. Does anyone have any suggestions on to to improve on that damage outside of the obvious Power Attack feat as soon as possible? Thanks.

Sacred Word is a level 1 power of the archetype that will, over time, raise the base damage of the book from 1d4 to as high as 2d6. You could ask your GM if it would be possible to take the Favored Class Bonus for warpriest that Halflings get. Namely, they get 1/4 progression to the weapon damage of their Sacred Weapon. So instead of waiting for level 5 to raise your damage, you'd go up at level 4 and so on.

The book can be enchanted as a magic weapon, so being able to add extra damage to the book will come with time and GP as well. Dipping into a class that gains Sneak Attack might also add damage if you can consistently find a way to deliver SA damage. Alternately the book is treated as a light bludgeoning weapon, so you could go Weapon Finesse and then Piranha Strike with it or find a way to deal Dex to Damage, if you go with a Dex build.

Then there's the Magus route. If you take a 2 level dip into Magus you can technically channel any Magus Touch attack spell into the book so you could deliver a smack with the tome carrying a 2d6 Shocking Grasp rider. This eats into your Swift actions though so this might not be an ideal way to go.

I wouldn’t go Str-based as a standard Halfling. Could be a Halflingborn Aasimar or similar and at least grab a Str bonus instead of penalty if you really wanted. Or just keep it simple and go straight Dex.

Probably not worth dipping any class on an Inquisitor, honestly... well, Zen Archer for 3 levels can be pretty effective... but a dip for Sneak Attack is definitely NOT worth it. Or Magus, for that matter. I would VMC Magus way before dipping into it for a Living Grimoire.

I would probably stack Living Grimoire with Preacher, because something about that just makes sense to me. Possibly VMC Magus for access to some sweet Magus Arcana.

You could also go all out on Aid Another... Halflings can be quite Helpful. Lol. Stack Living Grimoire with Tactical Leader. Maybe even VMC Cavalier while you're at it. Order of the Dragon is nice for Aid Another builds. Use Tactician to hand out Harrying Partners to all your driends. Now your huge Aid Another bonuses last.
