Touch of Corruption damage bonus

Rules Discussion

Is it currently impossible to get the status bonus from Touch of Corruption as a PC?

We have no undead ancestries at the moment. The closest we get is with negative healing but that only deals with healing and damage. It's relevant with homebrew through undead ancestries or undead champion NPCs but without homebrew, will it ever come up?

Why wouldn't it be able to come up? Not having Undead PCs doesn't mean there's no case where an evil champion would have an undead ally, summoned or otherwise.

Horizon Hunters

At the moment you can not be an Undead PC, so no.

The status bonus only applies to the user of the spell, not their allies.

I always thought it paralleled Lay on Hands, applying a bonus to allied targets, but I was surprised it doesn't when I reread it today. It's fittingly a more selfish spell.

Ah, I misread that. Looks like right now it's only going to come up with homebrew use, or if the focus spell is put on an NPC that qualifies.

It's possible something could give you the Undead trait without making you truly undead, though I admit I have no idea how that'd work in practice.

Also, wow. I went this entire time and never noticed those +2/-2 riders on either of those spells...

Seems like something that would be available to an NPC undead character designed with class levels, or one that you add this particular focus spell to to make it seem more like an Evil Champion.

I don't see any problem.
