This is a question for a friend.
He is considering trying out for a Mytic. One of his problems is he doesn't want a near carbon copy of the one I have in a different game. Other then the basic differance of Race/Feats is there any advice for making a good healer style Mystic that isn't just taking the Healer connection? (Which is close to the only Class choice you have)
One of the problem is as I said, he doesn't like the idea of just being a racially different choice to my Mystic with the Healer conection. Any advice you can give would be helpful

Maybe try not playing a healer mystic? Just grab a mystic cure to fill that role.
You can try summoning then shooting with longarms. Star shaman works well here, and you can be the pilot easily. You can try for a melee build. I don't remember off the top of my head, but I think the warmonger connection works well here? You can grab the melophile connection and be a sort of bard for your party. Spell selection is also a way to differentiate characters.

Building on what Garretmander said: if you want to have decent healing capabilities but not play a dedicated "walking medpack" healer, you can take whatever Connection you want, and then use the level 3 Secondary Connection Epiphany to just swap out your main Connection's level 3 power for the Healer's Healing Channel power (because let's face it, Healing Channel is the choice for healing, other than the Mystic Cure spells. Best of all, it scales up and gets better with your Mystic level!) This lets you build your Mystic however you want, but still throw down respectable healing with Healing Channel as needed.
Secondary Connection requires your deity/philosophy/etc to have both your primary and secondary connections as possible options, but there's lots of room to play with, considering the list of deities that have the Healing connection: Desna, Hylax, Iomedae, Pharasma, Sarenrae, Talavet, Urgathoa, and Weydan.
