Spell Sergeant Spellstrike: Does a critical weapon hit translate to a critical spell?

Rules Questions

Example Setup:
Level 4 Mystic with Spell Sergeant Spellstrike
Casts "Eclipse Touch" into their weapon
Scores a critical hit with their weapon

Does the Eclipse Touch inherit the critical, or does it count as a regular hit?

A critical hit means that you roll your damage twice (adding to each roll all your usual bonuses, including any additional damage from special abilities) and then add the rolls together to determine the damage dealt.

I'd say yes it does.

Also, having just killed a player with a really unfortunate pair of nat 20s on plain spell attacks... I'm going to make a note to never give this ability to any NPCs I create.

I concur, this is one of my favorite archetypes.

If a critical hit effect also doubles rider damage like trick attack or overcharge, then yes, the spell would also crit.

My new Eclipse Touch Shadow Mystic (Spell Sergeant)/Operative is going to hopefully be doing this.
