Patchwork Turret - 1 action
Throw a Patchwork Turret on the ground within 20 feet of the Inventor. The Patchwork Turret is treated as a temporary minion and can be used while another minion is out, but only one can be activated at any one time during your turn. The Patchwork turret lasts for 1d4 rounds, uses your intelligence modifier instead of your dex or str modifier for attack rolls, and deals 1d4 damage with a 20 foot range.
Special: If your innovation is your construct, treat your patchwork turret as part of your construct and your construct deals 1d4 damage with a 20 foot range for 1d4 rounds and uses the constructs dex modifier instead of intelligence. Add the modification tag to Patchwork Turret.
This would create a thematic addition to the inventor for a level 1 feat, where I can get a temporary ranged minion.

Neat. I like the idea of working it into the Construct innovation actually. Maybe instead of a feat, it's an "upgrade path" of the construct.
So you give up mobility for the ability to quickly deploy/recall the turret, and grant it increased ranged abilities rather than melee attacks.
There is a Lot of design potential there.

If your innovation is a Construct you can already give it a 1d4 ranged attack that you can flavor as a turret on it.
And for the turret emulating spells like burning hands and lighting bolts you can already flavor "explosion" being a flamethrower attack from the turret and megavolt being shot from said turret.

Right. Particularly if they do some more to expand or adjust Explode as a base mechanic. Instead of it always being an emanation it could be a cone or a line, etc. A lot of attacks can be represented by having more Explode options, really. Maybe generic Breakthroughs for Overdrive and Explode could be a thing.
