Kobold Snare Setter Feat

Rules Discussion

This feat both requires you to be trained in crafting as a prerequisite and gives you trained in crafting.

SNARE SETTER
KOBOLD
FEAT 1
Prerequisites trained in Crafting
You are adept at the time-honored kobold art of trap making.
You gain the trained proficiency in Crafting. If you were already
trained in Crafting, you instead become trained in a skill of
your choice. You gain access to all uncommon kobold snares.
You gain the Snare Crafting feat, though when choosing your
formulas for that feat, you can also choose from uncommon
kobold snares, as well as common snares

While there may be no side route to acquire the feat, if in the future Paizo develops such, the feat's prepared for that. So it's futureproofing. And in this instance, the oddity's harmless since you get to take another skill anyway.
And it borrows pretty standard skills acquisition language, so it's not going out of its way to be complicated; it's just covering bases.

I think this whole feat needs to be revised. As far as I can tell, there are no “kobold snares,” uncommon or not, anywhere in the APG or elsewhere.

There are not, yet.

Removing that future proofing line from this feat would still be a ridiculous decision.

See page 14-15 of the 25-page adventure "Menace Under Otari", found in the Beginner Box. There's even a Kobold Trapmaster.
