Does the eidolon ever roll initiative?

Summoner Class

A weird question about initiative came up in our game. Our party was in a sharply curved corridor in the marching order fighter-eidolon-investigator-cleric-summoner, and the fighter, eidolon, and investigator had line of sight to some giant centipedes while the cleric and summoner did not when initiative was called. My GM ruled that the eidolon should set the initiative for me since that was who was doing the perception. The summoner class writeup doesn't specify an answer to this that I could find. So does the initiative for the summoner and eidolon sometimes get rolled using the eidolon's statistics, instead of the summoner?

By RAW?

I dont think so. The Eidolon and Summoner have perfect mental communication and the ability to casually share senses, so from a logical perspective theres little reason to believe that a Summoner isn't aware of what the Eidolon is aware of during Exploration Mode. They share actions, and the Summoner is technically the Player Character. Id say that the Summoner is definitely the one rolling for initiative, unless there's an exception made somewhere and its super explicit.

THAT SAID... I'd probably allow, in my games, the Summoner to roll initiative based on narrative circumstances of the Eidolon + Summoner, when appropriate. The same way anyone could potentially end up in a situation where they're rolling Deception or some non-Perception skill for initiative, a Summoner could justify rolling with their Eidolons modifier. I would never, ever force this to a players detriment though.
