Flavourwise should Unburdened Iron Dwarf Monks be able to benefit from Incredible Movement in armor

Pathfinder Second Edition General Discussion

The whole deal with that feat is that you can ignore the effects of wearing heavy armor, so it stands to reason that you'd also be able to move with the grace of a monk in heavy armor, not that it'd be any good.

Flavorwise? Absolutely.

Of course, monks aren't trained at all in any armor, just unarmored defense, so you're hosing your AC by doing so if you're a plain monk. Getting training in heavy armor from an archetype or triple Armor Proficiency would be an excellent idea.

sadly sentinel dedication doesn't scale from unarmored defense so even double armor proficiency and sentinel dedication doesn't ever give you better than expert in heavy armor at any point.

The introduction of stances to the monk kit that don't require being unarmored gave me hope for a second but Paizo made sure you can't get a super tanky monk by cheesing proficiencies and sentinel dedication.

As it is Fighter + Monk/Martial Artist is still the way to go for the heavy armored fist fighter.

Was mostly wondering with this thread whether I'm alone in interpreting the flavour interaction between the two feats to work.

Flavor? Sure. Rules as Written? I don't think it's super clear cut.

Unburdened Iron ignores movement penalties from armor, not necessarily negating the unarmored requirement of monk's fast movement.

If there was a dwarf monk tradition that wore armor, I wouldn't be surprised. I'd let it work if the player really wanted it, not like it's going to be a powerful option.

Right, ignoring penalties is different from qualifying for bonuses.

And Unburdened Iron sounds really, really unburdened, yet even heavy armors reduce a PC's speed if strong yet not strong enough (even if they can handle the Bulk). It's just "Less-Burdened Iron" doesn't sound cool.

That's why I only asked flavourwise. RAW or RAI it clearly doesn't work. I don't think Incredible Movement needs the restriction currently as so much of the monk doesn't work with armor anyway.

Flavorwise I'd say definitely so. Consider we already have a feat that specifically calls out Unburdened Iron as working with it in the form of Armiger Mobility.

Liberty's Edge

I believe Mountain Stance was created by Dwarven Monks to take advantage of Unburdened Iron despite not being allowed to wear armor. So I would say no.
