Where am I?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Working on a character's backstory. Where might I be if I'm somewhere that
* is in Avistan or northern Garund
* is not evil
* has a hereditary aristocracy
* is mostly human, especially the aristocracy
* is far enough from Elven population centers that Elves are rare and exotic there
?

Brevoy, Qadira, and parts of Varisia with hereditary aristocracy (like Korvosa) are probably your best bets. Elves aren't exactly unknown anywhere in the Inner Sea region, but they're maybe rare enough to seem exotic in those places, and all meet all your other criteria.

If willing to compromise a little more on the 'elves are rare and exotic' thing, Taldor would also be a viable option, as might Osirion.

Qadira looks great for my purposes, especially after I add the wiki's info to the World Guide's. Thank you very much! I confess I hadn't been sure that a "satrapy" had an actual aristocracy under the satrap, as opposed to just the one guy ruling everything directly on behalf of the emperor.

Lost Omens Legends also has some new info on the satrap, his vizier, and his wife (who takes a very active role in politics). Love that trio.

You're quite welcome, I'm always happy to be of assistance. :)

Yeah, I can see that being a tad less than obvious prior to reading up on Qadira. As Grankless notes, if you want some extra info on the rulers of the area, Lost Omens: Legends is a great source for that.

I put Legends in my shopping cart to investigate more later. Thank you both for the tip!

Wife? I thought the Satrap had a boyfriend. I'm confused!

I'm not finding any references to this.

Are you sure you're not thinking of someone else? The head of the Qadira faction in PFS has a long term boyfriend, so maybe that's who you're thinking of.

They're not the same person?

Nope. One is a prominent businessman from Qadira involved in the Pathfinder Society in Absalom...the other is the actual secular ruler of Qadira. Those are very different things.
