As the title asks?

Nope: battle medicine isn't a treat wounds check so t doesn't activate risky surgery.

So, it can only be used outside of combat....doesn't seems as cool...lol.

Yep, Treat Wounds is for out of combat and Battle Medicine is for in combat.

If it can't be used in combat with Battle Medicine it seems such a waste of a feat. I'll bring this to the attention of my GM (None of us realized this was the case (including my GM). I'll bring this to his attention. I'm sure he'll let me swap this now not very useful at all feat, for something else.

Yep, battle medicine isn't a treat wound check: it only uses the same DC and mimics the effects of treat wounds healing. As to a waste... I think it'd be a waste in or out of combat, but that's me. You damage the target no matter what and then might also damage them in combat with your roll... even if you succeed, you might still not net positive healing... no thanks. 1st time I saw this feat in action, the result was 8 on the 1d8 from risky surgery and 7 healed from the 4d8 treat wounds. Thanks for the free damage. :P

I find the majority of healing happens outside of combat though, so that's not a reason for not liking it.
