Summoner Class

people have mentioned this often but figured it could use a thread.

summoner turn.

Act together (boost+move into melee) attack attack

move in tandem (move into positions), act together (boost+attack), attack

this is almost every turn, i have no room for things like raise shield, variious in combat skill checks, etc. im ok and understanding of giving up things for casting a spell. but most classes work in a way that can leave at least one action sorta freed up to do various things. i have to actively lose my already anemic damage in order to do anything else.

i feel like boost eidolon could be rolled into the base damage of the class, and actually improve the calsses turn by turn experience, make it less boring, and not affect balance at all.

wont stop some players from picking bard MC and pushing themselves into a similar playstyle, but at least its just an option then as opposed to a base balance point and feature of the class.

Definitely agree that something should happen to Boost/Reinforce. They feel too much like obvious choices and like Act Together pretty much just exists so you can cast one of them then control your Eidolon like a featless martial.

I'd also in general like to see the Eidolon get more combat activities or the Summoner to get feats that give them new ways to mess with the action economy offensively.

Pretty much every martial in the game has unique Actions so they aren't just making vanilla strikes all the time. The Summoner really needs to take some notes from them, because that's what the Eidolon essentially is.

Each eidolon type would really benefit from more unique levers to pull at need starting at 1st level, that I agree.

Yeah, I can agree with that. I generally dislike classes that have a "solved" turn, in the sense that you have a turn that you want to do over and over because it will almost always be the most effective option. It's why I don't like bards a whole lot, and it's probably my biggest criticism of the summoner.
