Fey spell lore and fey spell versatility with hunter / spontaneous caster

Hey guys!

Curious if anyone had any insight. If a hunter - which is a spontaneous spell caster - took either of these two feats, what would the effects be?

Would it simply add the spells listed under the feats to your spell list of available spells to choose from each level, or would they automatically be entered as spells permanently known?

In other words - do you gain the spells, or do you simply gain access to them?

Thanks again

John

I would say at best they add to the list to choose from.

Adds to available list to choose from, but doesn't automatically give you then as shield known

Fey Spell Versatility

You have learned magical secrets from the fey.

Prerequisites: Cha 13, Spellcraft 1 rank, ability to cast ranger spells.

Benefit: Choose a 1st-level spell, a 2nd-level spell, a 3rd-level spell, and a 4th-level spell from the bard, sorcerer/wizard, or witch spell list that is either from the enchantment or illusion school or a spell with the curseUM descriptor. Add those spells to your ranger spell list. Once chosen, these spells cannot be changed.

It only adds them to the list of spells between which you choose, if you are a spontaneous spellcaster you still need to learn them the normal way.

Fey Spell Lore

Source Ultimate Intrigue pg. 83
You have learned the treacherous spells employed by the fey.

Prerequisites: Cha 13, Spellcraft 1 rank, ability to cast druid spells.

Benefit: Add the following spells to your druid spell list at the indicated levels: 0—dancing lights, 1st—lesser confusion, 2nd—charm person, 3rd—invisibility, 4th—bestow curse, 5th—charm monster, 6th—major curseUM, 7th—cloak of dreamsAPG, 8th—insanity, 9th—irresistible dance.

Idem.

Normally, with a feat, a spontaneous caster can add 1 spell know of his maximum level or 2 of a lower level, and all picked from his normal list.

Picking and learning 4 spells from different lists (for the ranger list version) or 9 specific spells (for the druid list version) is way more powerful.

Personally I am not convinced that a hunter can take the feats. They require you to cast be able to cast Druid and ranger spells. A Hunter cast Hunter spell from the Hunter spell list.
The fact that the Hunter spell list is made fusing the ranger spell list and the druid spell list (up to 6th level) is irrelevant. The resulting Hunter spell list is a separate object.

A relevant FAQ and explanation from the PDT. You add the spells to the Druid and Ranger lists, that do nothing for the Hunter list.

FAQ

New Spells Known: If I gain the ability to add a spell that is not on my spell list to my list of spells known, without adding it to my spell list, can I cast it?

No. Adding a spell to your list of spells known does not add it to the spell list of that class unless they are added by a class feature of that same class. For example, sorcerers add their bloodline spells to their sorcerer spell list and oracles add their mystery spells to their oracle spell list. The spell slots of a class can only be used to cast spells that appear on the spell list of that class.

Take a look at Unsanctioned Knowledge:

This feat specifically adds spells to the paladin spell list.

But let's say for the moment that paladin was spontaneous and had a list of spells known. If we changed Unsanctioned Knowledge as well so it read

Then you would need to pick spells from those lists that were also on the paladin spell list if you wanted to cast them. It would need to also state that they were added to the paladin spell list, like the original does.

As in the case of Unsanctioned Knowledge (and Samsaran's Mystic Past Life), all instances of intentional additions to a class's spell list should specifically indicate that the spells are added to the class's spell list.
