Ignoring the Dex cap of Scales of the Dragon

Am I reading Scales of the Dragon correctly? It seems to indicate that you have the Dex cap ONLY when unarmored. If I were to, say, throw on leather armor, I would have a +1 AC bonus and a +4 Dex cap instead. Is that right?

When you're unarmored, the scales give you a +2 status bonus to AC with a Dexterity cap of +2.

Yes. But you also only get the status bonus when unarmored.

So the only thing you would get in light armor would be the resistance.

Actually, I think polymorph would work too.

The big advantage of the feat is that it stacks with things like polymorphs, yes. I could see a kobold druid going for it to complement a wild shape build (and the dragon arcana is relevant too there) - dedication at 2, scales at 6.
