Hey guys, I'm trying to design a custom class for a friend, and I'm something at a loss. Basically they want the class to provide a way to not only change their gender, but also change the gender of others. More than that, it would somehow make gender have mechanical reason.
One idea I have is to make the class something I call: Prince Charming. Basically it's a male only class that provides buffs to female characters within a certain distance of them. Later class abilities would give them the power to turn others into females temporarily to provide those buffs to them. Even I'm thinking a very late class ability would allow those turned into females to be charmed to be his allies, so he could use it on enemies. And maybe finally have a way to make themselves a female to benefit from their own buffs, again, temporarily.
Honestly it doesn't feel like simply changing gender is enough to provide an entire class, so that's kinda why I came here. If you guys can think of other things that would make the class complete that'd be great otherwise I'd make it an archetype for bard or something.

What's the concept behind this mechanic? What is the player hoping to do, exactly?
There's a pretty massive difference between a trans character exploring the nature of their identity and a character that goes "haha, you're a lady now." Just want to make sure I know what I'm getting into.
It's the second one, so it's not really the trans thing, but rather a character that would have the ability to create their own personal harem.

Check out the Gentleman class from Old Spice for inspiration.
I think Paizo did some tweaks to it here.
Notably, they have the 'Something Dumb' Supernatural ability at third level:
Starting at 3rd level, once per session, the
Gentleman may change one thing in the game that
has no effect on actual gameplay and the GM must
allow it.
Presumably this is for some sort of home game, so you could always decide that, since gender has no mechanical effects, it's subject to that ability.

That seems...insensitive to some pretty relevant topics in modern society, but okay.
Just go with a sorcerer or wizard focusing on enchantments with a few transmutations. A class is a bag of tools you use to realize your goals. This concept involves the goals themselves. I see no need RI reinvent the wheel, here. Maybe a few home-brewed spells, but that's it.
Though...it seems like this concept could get incredibly offensive, fast.

Tbh, it's already offensive, though not intentionally so I'd assume.
I'd want to make sure everyone at the table is okay with this before springing this on them.
If they are, without any sort of pressure, then it's tasteless but no more than the tropes it's based on.

Ok. I thought that this was a troll post when I first read it. I am still thinking so. This was the first post by the OP. That is one sign that indicates that it will be pretty safe to flag this as trolling.
And to the OP: if this is serious, it is a monumentally insensitive idea. You should focus your efforts on something else.

May I please have a (consensual) bisexual harem of GREEK GODS? Except Zeus, that boy's nasty.
