its the only way i want to play the game personally. opens up so many options with minimal power creep. and is great for groups who tend to build the characters they want rather than coordinate a well oiled machine of PC's that all work perfectly together.

I don't like it, I would only use the themed version of it with everyone same archetype.


Love it, and go a step further (but simpler on my players) to just "double class feats". Really opened up the options to my players, and so far there haven't been any major balance concerns.

At the time there weren't enough archetypes out to cover enough ground for everyone, and some of my players that were newer to RPGs were intimidated by having to learn stuff outside of their class. They were already having enough trouble trying to figure out what they wanted out of their main class, so saying "hey by the way, you also have to read every other class to figure out if you want to multiclass into them" was a bit of a tough ask. One the other hand, telling the Ranger "btw, you can do animal companion stuff and snare stuff!" had them pretty excited.
