Weakness and Resistance to the same thing

Rules Discussion

If a character would have Resistance and Weakness to the same thing, they just cancel out via Resistance - Weakness right?

Like a Stormborn Tengu has electricity resistance of half their level, and a Tempest Oracle who has invoked their moderate curse has weakness to electricity equal to half their level, so these would cancel out right?

Defenses against certain types of damage or effects are called immunities or resistances, while vulnerabilities are called weaknesses. Apply immunities first, then weaknesses, and resistances third. Immunity, weakness, or resistance to an alignment applies only to damage of that type, not to damage from an attacking creature of that alignment.

Yes, because of how damage is calculated for that. If weakness and resistance canceled each other directly it would not work because of the Oracle clause that you can't mitigate the curse, but because you apply the weakness first and then apply resistance they basically cancel each other while getting around the Oracle clause.
