2 social traits due to chronicle?

Rules Questions

Hello.

A PC has 3 listed traits, 2 standard, (1 social and 1 other) and a chronicle gave access to a free trait. However this is another social trait.

As far as i aware of, you can only have 1 of each type of traits.
Is this an oversight of the player, or is getting a same type trait through chronicles legit?

Thanks in advance.

Chronically talent increase for every talent of the same type and also let you to take additional trait feat more than one so you can take more of that type so the chronical increase

What do you mean by a chronicle giving a trait?

Sorry I didn't remember the word

It's the exemplar talent from chronical of legends

Radiant Oath

In this case, it'd be Charming Smile, Cunning Soul. ^_^

But the OP never referenced Exemplar traits, they talked about a "chronicle" giving a trait. I'd still like to know what the heck that is.

Ah, if the OP is asking about a PFS rule that explains my confusion perfectly. I would try a PFS specific forum for that.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

So it would look like this then?

Started with the SOCIAL EXEMPLAR TRAIT.
Then took additional traits and chose (other) and (social trait from a Chronicle boon.)

If so, that's legal, since the Exemplar Traits give a limited exception to the standard rule about taking more than one trait of the same type.

EXEMPLARS OF GOLARION

This section introduces a new variety of traits known as exemplar traits. A character can have only one exemplar trait, and selecting an exemplar trait takes the place of two regular traits. Each exemplar trait is tied to a trait category, such as combat traits or regional traits; a character with an exemplar trait is no longer restricted to a single trait of that category and can select any number of such traits when gaining further traits. In addition, a character with an exemplar trait can select the Additional Traits feat (Pathfinder RPG Advanced Player’s Guide 150) any number of times and use the feat to gain an exemplar trait of a valid trait category for which she qualifies. Each of the following entries details one hero from the Inner Sea that serves as a model of these exemplars.

......

The Witch of Roses
It is possible that the Witch of Roses never existed, yet her influence over Chelish culture rivals that of Aroden himself. The villain of the Old Chelish operatic tragedy The Winter of White Roses, the Witch—reimagined under Thrune rulership as an antiheroine—was said to have
ruled the port city of Ostenso through cunning politicking and woven webs of words, such that none could even whisper a plot against her. While she is largely believed to be a playwright’s creation, white roses are a common sight in Ostenso to this day, even where they have never been planted or nurtured.

Charming Smile, Cunning Soul (Social Exemplar):
You know how to guilefully weave words, sway hearts and minds, verbally destroy rivals, and pierce cunning lies. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, and Sense Motive checks. This bonus increases by 1 for every two other social traits you have

So it is possible, but costly.

exemplar traits take up 2 trait slots

That is the reason why I called it costly. Should have re-read the opening post, as the PC has taken two traits, not one. Unless she has taken a drawback she has an excess trait.

Unless she took Additional Traits as a feat. Then she has the Exemplar, plus the two granted by the feat (or vice versa), no drawback needed.

I assume by "chronicle" you mean PFS chronicle sheet? Then it depends entirely on how the relevant entry on the sheet is worded. Without knowing that, I do not think any of us can answer the question.

If this is PFS then (according to AoN) exemplar traits are not legal anyway, so that they aren't relevant. And if it isn't PFS then what the heck is a "chronicle"?

The OP did not say anything about Examplar Traits. I think that might be somthing of a red herring.

Then we probably need a clarification from the OP about it. Because either this is PFS (and as you say, without exemplar traits in play, the situation isn't legal), or it's not (and "chronicle" might mean the Chronicle of Legends book, where exemplar traits are found.)

The post by the character's apparent player suggests that the exemplar trait is in play though.

I thought the same, but her post can be a reply to Zepheri comment.

Without more info from GM Chyro we are running in circles.
