What deity selection would give you the warm fuzzies and think “oh yes, this is going to pay off splendidly down the line?”
Looking for plot and thematic relevance rather than mechanical benefits, even though I could and would obviously find a way to make my cleric’s faith feel relevant regardless... I just wanna know which would make my job easiest?
All right, finally finished book 6, so I’ll answer my own question in case any player comes here looking for something like this.
Without spoilers, I’d say Torag has the most thematic connection to the AP, and while no deities really have much of a plot connection to this dungeon-heavy AP, Sarenrae and Desna have some, and would be good choices for someone not interested in Torag.

Having finished Tyrant's Grasp and having played through Wrath of the Righteous one of my players decided to play a Shoanti raised changeling Barbarian/Herald Caller cleric of Nocticula. As the AP is taking place in 4712AR before both WotR & TG she is called to the Cult of Redeemer Queen in Magnimar under the tiefling Ayavah. The player didn't know about Sorshen's connection to Nocticula ask I'm going to sprinkle some of that in especially seeking the Shard of Lust.
