Hi all. I'm about to DM Curse of the Crimson Throne.
I have a pc who wants to play a Dhampir Vigilante. He belongs to a matriarchal society and is looked down on for being a male half-breed. He wants his family to be among the nobility in Korvosa (though nobody knows they're vampires) and he takes up a vigilante persona to disguise himself from his family while he attempts to prove himself to them by gaining power with his end goal to take the Crimson Throne himself and rule Korvosa.
I think this is really cool and by all means I want to reward his creativity. Would it harm the adventure if Ileosa was a vampire all along and he knew? Or perhaps his family is just a rival family of the Arabasti family?

I assume anyone on this thread is fine with spoilers but just in case:
As I recall the story in a nutshell:
Ileosa was a spoiled, brainless, pretty Chelaxian, who married off to this old guy king of Korvosa because he's rich.
She's bored and goes wandering around the castle, ends up finding her way into the ancient Shoanti ruins that the castle was built on, which just so happens to be a pyramid that guarded one of the relics of Kazavon. She picks up the relic, gets possessed by Kazavon, turns all crazy evil, and murders her husband.
Ileosa gains super demonic possessed powers. There's a great scene where you first find out she is not human anymore. She is shot in the face with a crossbow, pulls the bolt out, and murders the guy who shot her by stabbing him with said bolt.
Kazavon was a classic ancient powerful dragon demon demigod thing that couldn't be killed so the ancient heroes cut him into pieces and separated the pieces around the world to prevent his resurrection.
Kazavon uses the puppet queen to try to resurrect himself. That's the gist of the overall story.
There's various subplots that go on in relation to this. There is a long section about the plague, including various vampires. It starts with a classic Bram Stoker, boat arrives at the dock empty save for the bloodstains. I would recommend looking at this section of the story for your vampire tie in as they're already here. I wouldn't recommend making Ileosa an undead, it really wouldn't fit well imo.
Also, Ileosa/Kasavon is the end boss of the entire AP, so be careful with any alterations to her.

Thank you! I'll read over chapter 3 then. I'm working my way through reading the entire AP, but we will probably start before I get the chance to finish reading it. So I didn't want to make he player wait to see if his background was conflicting until after we already started the game.
